R6700v3 - port forwarding not working

Hello,

The message is a bit long, but wanted to be as detailed as possible.

I have a strange issue with my R6700v3 port forwarding.

This is the setup I have:

  • A router from the ISP (wireless is off, they don't have an option of only a modem) with 10.11.0.0/24 range
  • Netgear R6700v3 (firmware V1.0.4.128_10.0.104) with 172.16.50.0/24 range, using the ISP router to access the internet using DHCP (with reserved IP 10.11.0.2)

I want to access the device 172.16.50.240 on 3 ports 22221,22222,22223 (an NVR).

I have setup port forwarding on the ISP router, and if connecting the device to the ISP router - all works perfectly, and I can access the device from outside.

Next I setup port forwarding on the R6700v3 (see screenshot below).

The problem - port forwarding doesn't seem to work. To test it I tried to connect device to the ISP router, and accessed the R6700v3 IP and port 10.11.0.2:22222 (etc.) - also not working

Checked the R6700v3 logs - and it seems like the router does see the connection, however I cannot connect to it:

[LAN access from remote] from 10.11.0.28:57099 to 172.16.50.240:22222, Saturday, Dec 10,2022 10:14:42

Locally - all works fine, and the same 3 ports on the ISP router are open and connecting (if the NVR is connected directly to the ISP router)

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Ron

PF may not work if you have a router in front of the R6700.

Try putting the R6700's IP address it gets from the 1st router into this routers DMZ. If this fails, configured the R6700 for AP mode and use the ISP router as your host router.

      Thanks for the reply.

When trying to put the address the R6700 gets from the ISP router, I get error "DMZ Server is not on the LAN subnet.".

I tired to put the R6700 address on it's LAN in the DMZ - no affect.

I did another test - tired to do a portforwaring to a different device and port (a computer, to port 80) and it actually worked fine, so I'm wondering if I am missing something.

      Thanks,

      Ron

Sounds like something on the ISP modem isn't being configured right possible. Might contact the ISP for help and information regarding there modem and the DMZ configuration.

Try the R6700 in AP mode...
