R6850 stop FUNJSQ

Does anyone know how to turn off FUNSQJ?

It seems it is necessary to "reboot the router and stop Funjsq and other applications not related with the firmware update." The penalty for not doing so is bricking the router.

This question has been asked before, but I cannot find an answer that explains anything. Is there a switch in the router control software?

Updated manually without any problem? Sounds good. Thanks. I'll try that.

Re: R6850 stop FUNJSQ

I agree with @microchip8

Never heard of it or needed to do anything with it.

I've had 1 post that had the same issue but they updated manually and didn't have any issue.

I'd recommend updating over a hardwired connection to the router for the best results updating. I've done this for years and never had an issue updating.

What is FUNJSQ?  A good question. I can't find any explanation.

I don't know where you read that, but such a service does not exist on NG routers

Re: R6850 stop FUNJSQ

This update is for any R6### routers that have a firmware update to V1.1.0.76

After 2 hours on the phone with Netgear support, I have found out the following on funjsq.

1.  Funjsq is a download accelerator that is embeded within the firmware.

2.  Funjsq is from China.  (Google funjsq or Funjsq.com)

3.  Funjsq is enabled only if QoS is enabled

If QoS is enabled, you must disable it, apply changes and reboot the router.  It is suggested that you make a backup of the current firmware configuration before updating the firmware to the new version.

You can then do the firmware upgrade, either manually or "automatically" from the router Admin Basic page.

Enable Qos only after successfully upgrading the new firmware - AT YOUR OWN RISK

Good luck and best wishes.

Re: R6850 stop FUNJSQ

Right. I did update manually, and everything seems fine. At least I didn't brick the router!

Re: R6850 stop FUNJSQ

It was a warning in the automatic update in Admin software theat came with my R6850. Netgear's warning, but there is no explanation or instructions.

Re: R6850 stop FUNJSQ

Thanks for this. Good of you to pass on your hard-earned knowledge! I find that QoS is not enable, and I'm leaving it that way, following you (implied) warning.

A manual update worked. I'm saving your reply for future reference.

Right. I couldn't find anything myself. But phdgolf posted some information.
