R6900P games d/c or lag, not with only modem

i have 200mb internet from isp on a freshly installed line (home didn't have a coax line) and when i speed check, its around 200 with 0% or sometimes 1% packet loss. i tried default settings, i tried what ive learned (ipv6 / ports / dmz host) and no matter what i do, its very unstable and glitchy when i have the router in use. i can literally count the time it takes for bullets to land in fps, and gta v is unplayable; it disconnects after a few minutes of play every time. i had a warranty replacement with a second new device. i even replaced my modem. firmware and everything is updated; any ideas?

for anyone who stumbles across this thread in the future; disabling IPV6 fixed all my issue. looking at the description of ipv6 that makes no sense, i can't see how that can cause any issues.. but apparantly it did. if you have an xbox one (potentially other consoles) just disable ipv6 and try again

What firmware version do you have on the device?

A number is more useful than "the latest". (It may not be by the time people read this.) There can also be newer versions, or "hot fixes", that do not show up if you check for new firmware in the browser interface.

It might also help if you told people what the modem is in front of this router, if there is one. The model number could be useful. Is it, by any chance, also a router, with a set of LAN ports on the back?

The reason for asking is that a lot of people turn up here trying to put a router behind a modem that is also a router. That can complicate troubleshooting.

Apologies for all the questions. But you can help people to help you by providing the information suggested in this forum's header:

Subject (Include model number and brief summary)
Model (Recommended - Helps the community give the best answers)
Body (Include additional detail including model version, firmware, OS and environment where relevant.)

They are there for a good reason.

Re: R6900P games d/c or lag, not with only modem

lol its all good dude, i know how it goes; but its not the case here, pretty sure my xbox is either almost dead, or some setting specific to netgear is throttling it. but my laptop is getting ping in the 20's + of - situationally.

is there any settings that effect performance besides the usual settings found on most old routers?

What firmware version do you have on the device?

V1.3.2.134_10.1.66

as far as the modem, sorry; i thought i had that in the subject. its another nighthawk modem, only one port. i was hoping getting modem and router from same manufacturer would be a safer bet.

i got an approved modem according to my isp.

thanks for your time
