R7000 25% vs 100% transmit power
So looking to improve my WiFi range, starting with moving to a lesser used channel...I know the interweb says share achannel is better than being in the shadows of other signals, but my UL/DL speeds trippled by doing so. Also tested 25% power to see if the router could "hear" the distant edge of range devices better, but was suprised that signal didn't change much if at all. 2.4GHz db dropped about 10, but 5GHz stayed at the same -70db. Either way, 25% and 100% provided the same upload download thourouput at this -70-80db signal level, so I am just leaving it at the lower setting.
On a side note, I also enabled SmartConnect, which wants to put anything outside the room the router is in on 2.4GHz, even though Speedtest.net and signal strength at the devices is higher with 5GHz...guessing the router determines this based on the signal quality it is receiving from the device.
