R7000 5g dropping connection
My R7000 dual gig wifi router has had issues with the 5g dropping for the past year. I have tried a few different firmware versions and even tried some of the community recomendations and still have issue with the 5g dropping. 2.4 works fine. I have upgraded and down graded with the same results and very frustrated at this point. Currently at Firmware Version
V1.0.9.88_10.2.88 and as I stated, I have tried downgrading . Any Support Staff have a resolution before I trash this hardware and go to another vendor ! Thanks !

Re: R7000 5g dropping connection
the most agreed upon stable version is the .42 version of the firmware.
I'd downgrade to that over a hardwired connection, reset the device after the downgrade is complete, and then manually reinstall. don't install from a backup.
Try this first.

Re: R7000 5g dropping connection
Wow .42 is a very early version. Hard to believe any newer version is not stable - Thank You !

Re: R7000 5g dropping connection
Good luck!
The R7000 has probably had the most issues with firmware that we've found on here. The .42 has been rock solid.
Most have found that if they're upgrading, the best results with the R7000 or in this order: reset----upgrade-reset again----reinstall manually. Most get on the .42 version and just leave it as it runs well and everything works.

Re: R7000 5g dropping connection
Best thing to do is get rid of the R7000, and don't purchase Netgear for the forseeable future. Otherwise, stay on .42 until you can afford something else. Trouble is, I don't know if I can recommend anything else at this point in time. Maybe flash DDWRT on it until Netgear gets their act together.

Re: R7000 5g dropping connection
Just got my R7000 yesterday and within 30 minutes, 5g was dropping. Router came with the 1.0.9.88 firmware, tried upgrading to 1.0.11.100, still dropping 5g. Flashed to 1.0.9.42 this morning and we'll see if that holds a 5g connection longer than a few hours. I'm seriously thinking about sending this back and getting a different brand. I can't see how a company like this can't get something as simple as router firmware to have a stable 5g connection. Does not give me a warm fuzzy feeling.

Re: R7000 5g dropping connection
Any word if the latest firmware update from this week FINALLY fixes the drop out issues, or do I have to stay on .44 forever?

Re: R7000 5g dropping connection
I personally have not upgraded as yet since my gear has been stable. Rather not touch it if it ain't broke.

Re: R7000 5g dropping connection
Is the 'solution' for drops on the 7000p still to just stay on the V1.0.9.42_10.2.44 and not updgrade it?
I have received my replacement from support and now on the phone w support to update that i'm having the exact same issues.

Re: R7000 5g dropping connection
Hello, I have not upgraded as yet since this version seems to be steady, so hesitant to try anything else. Really sucks cause I really should get the latest upgrade but who knows if it is reliable. Hope that helps
