R7000 AC1900 Latest firmware update

Model R7000 AC1900 nighthawk smart router.

Present firmware  1.0.9.60_10.2.60

I show from checking that this router has a firmware update which is 1.0.9.64_10.2.64

Is it safe for me to update to this latest one.   Can someone double check to make

sure 1.0.9.64_10.2.64 is correct because I have this router set to automatic update but it still shows the prior firmware.

Thanks

First thing you should do is disable Automatic Update. That function is not reliable and can even brick your router - updating firmware can not always be trivial. Yes, there is a new version out which fixes a list of things (and probably adds a few issues). User experience can be found here https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/1-31-19-NEW-R7000-Firmware-released/m-p/1698...

Routing: NETGEAR R7800 - Voxel Firmware 1.0.2.88SF & Kamoj addon
Switching: 2x NETGEAR 8-ports (GS108v4) / 1x NETGEAR 16-ports (JGS516v2)
Desktop: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X - Server: Intel Core i7-7700K - NAS: Intel Pentium G4400 - Cruncher: Intel Core i5-7400

You can check for yourself.

Automatic update depends on the firmware arriving on the update server. This can happen after it appears on the support pages for the device. In some rare cases, it can even appear on the update server before it hits the support page.

There is support material, including firmware and a manual, for the R7000 somewhere at the end of this link:

I'm with @microchip8 and disable autoupdate. I don't even update from the graphical user interface (GUI) and its automated update feature. I download the file and manually update the firmware. That gives me more control over the process. I wouldn't want the thing trying to update itself during a thunder storm!

Re: R7000 AC1900 Latest firmware update

Great. Thanks for the info.  I had checked and thought since I had auto update maybe the firmware for my router was different for some reason.  I will upldate it myself.  I have done that before.

Thanks for help.
