R7000 AND R8000

I currently want to expand my wireless network in my house.  I want to put the R7000 in the front of the house and the R8000 in the back of the house (its a large bungalow).  The basement is unfinished so I can run ethernet cable linking them together.  The R7000 will get the WAN connection, which ports should i use on the R8000 (I assume I use one of the 4 LAN ethernet ports on the R7000).  I will turn off the DHCP on the R8000 as well.  Is there a special mode I should put the R8000 in as well?

So you want to make the R8000 work in Access Point (don't forget to enable AP in its firmware). In that mode you need to connect one of the LAN ports of the R7000 to one of the LAN ports of the R8000

Here's a novel idea: Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your
model number, and look for Documentation.  Get the User Manual.  Look
for "Use the Router as a Wireless Access Point".  Compare the
instructions there with your guesses and the other advice you get here.

Note that "Enable AP Mode" will automatically disable the DHCP
server, and it will essentially reconfigure the WAN/Internet Ethernet
port as another LAN Ethernet port.  (So, you won't "need to connect one
of the LAN ports of the R7000 to one of the LAN ports of the R8000".)
