R7000 - AP & parental control

Hello all,

Context :

I bought a R7000 router, in order to replace my Orange (ISP) modem which does not permit static route, or advanced features that i need.

My network design (At home), is a bit more complicted that usual, and because of specific needs (TV/ Bandwith maximum), i'm not able to modify R7000 firmware to an openSource one. (I did it successfully with DD-WRT but, i finally need to keep Orange box + R7000, AND, i want to use Parental control CIRCLE)

My router is currently confifure in AP mode, because, as far as i understood, we cannot remove NAT on WAN with using router mode, and considering my network topology, this is required. So router is in AP mode, with a Windows DHCP behind, an all work like a charm ... except Parental control !

My questions :

As you probably understood, i'm on the middle of two issues : first, NAT cannot be deployed on my network, so AP is the solution, but with AP mode, CIRCLE is not possible.

So :

- Do you have any solution to disable NAT on WAN port, that can permit my R7000 to be in router mode ?

- Do you have any "tips" for enabling CIRCLE even in AP mode ? (SSH, hidden-Magic button ?)

- Any customized firmware that can handle my need ?

In advance, thank you very much,

AlmZ

List of features that are disabled can be found here. I doubt there is a way to get Circle to work on an AP.

Re: R7000 - AP & parental control

Thanks for your reply.

I guess, no, as well.

I'm a bit frustrated, because i don't want to NAT my WAN port, so AP is fine for me, but i need Circle feature...

So disabling NAT can be a solution in router mode, but it looks to not be possible.. if you have a tip ... Smiley Happy

Not a very detailed description of anything.  I'll guess that it's
some kind of modem+router, not a simple modem.  Does it have a
modem-only ("bridge") mode?  Does it have a "DMZ" feature?

Ok, but that disables all router functions, like, say, parental
control.

I don't know what that means.

As expected (and documented in that cited KB article).

No, no, and no.  If you want the R7000 router features, then you need
to run the R7000 as a router, not as a wireless access point.  To make
that work without "double NAT", you would need to disable the NAT
features in your (unspecified) "my Orange (ISP) modem".  Knowing nothing
about your (unspecified) "my Orange (ISP) modem" makes it hard to offer
more specific advice.
