I’ve been trying to update router firmware from 1.0.9.26 to 1.0.9.42_10.2.44 since it’s out, and just nothing happens. I’ve tried on my computer, also from my phone, I follow all the steps, the router restarts and then it still shows it has the old version and says there is update available.
The first time I tried after the restart only the power led was lid, so it plugged it off for about minute and after 2-3 attempt it started working again.
Never had such issue for years, it’s the first time I experience something like this.
Any ideas?

_Which_ "the steps"?
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Downloads. (For older versions, under Firmware and Software
Downloads, look for "View Previous Versions".) Find the kit(s).
Download the kit(s) you want. Read the "Release Notes" file for
instructions.

Re: R7000: Failed firmware update to 1.0.9.42
Well, which steps - I follow the instructions that pop up when I click on the "update" button 1) on the router page opened on my computer 2) on the router app on my phone.
I only didn't the manual installation which you recommended, i.e. i didn't download the file manualy and didn't upload it by myself.
It worked now. Thanks!
So the moral of the story is, the "automatic" firmware update sucks, do it manually.

So, you already knew that there were at least _two_ different ways to
do an update.

And, what's obvious to you may not be obvious to others.
Thanks for the report. Glad to hear that you got it working.
