[R7000] How to stream mkv 720p video files through internet?

Hi,

I have R7000 router, I attached an USB Hard drive to it, inside this hard drive there is a lot of  mkv file (720p).

I want to stream these video files from my home to my Android phone (S7 Edge) while I’m at my friend’s house, connecting to his home wifi.

I setup a FTP server on R7000 but it didn’t work. (On my Android phone, I use ES Explorer to browse the file and MX Video Player app to play the video file).

Does anyone know how to stream mkv 720p video file from R7000 through internet?

Thanks All.

Welcome to the community, @PhamHuyBao

Will you be able to play the .mkv files locally on your S7 Edge?

Can you try to use ReadyCloud? The steps are for iOS but it should be similar in setting it up for Android.

Yes, I am able to play it through LAN.

What is the different between "ReadyCloud" and "FTP".

Do I have to sync between my hdd and the "Ready Cloud". I don't want to put my private video on the cloud, though.

That is correct, syncing your external hard drive to the cloud.

Another way is accessing it over FTP. When you try to access it over the Internet do you get any error message?

Make sure that you have a public IP address when you access the FTP outside your network.

I switched to use FX File Explorer instead of ES File Explorer and MX Player play the file just fine when I first opening it, but then when I tried to scroll/skip the video, MX Player is freezing. Any thought?
