R7000 Problems after Update to Firmware V 1.0.9.60_10.2.60

Since upgrading to V. 1.0.9.60_10.2.60 Firmware version a few days ago, I am constantly dropped from a now very slow 5GHz connection. The 2.4GHz connection works intermittently. Anyone else having this frustrating issue? Tried restarting several times to no avail.

One of those times when doing a search before update would have been good.

Would have found this'

The FW version as well as how you updated can affect experience and performance.

1.0.9.60 has received mixed reviews.  Some report a positive experience, others like you, not so good.  Most agree 1.0.9.42 is currently a known stable release.

If you have spent any time following the posts from others here, you'll notice that many (including myself) do not recommend:

Updating using Auto-Check and Update, the Genie App, or Automatic Update..  Manual update via the routers GUI from a device connected directly via ethernet has proven to be the most reliable.

Also, users have reported performance issues or undesired behavior when QoS, Smart Connect or Traffic Meter are enabled.  Sometimes a reset and set up from scratch can help.  Other times, reflashng FW manually (even the same version) resolves unexplainable behavior/performance.

Finally, applying back up configurations across multiple versions of firmware has also been known to cause issues.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.  What I do:  Make a back up of a known good/working FW and configuration.  Now you are free to flash a new version and test it.  Not happy, flash the older FW back and restore the back up.

So use your own judement and my recommendations as a guide.  My R7000 is not currently in use, but I ran it on 1.0.9.42 over a month with satisfactory results.

Thank you for the feedback - I reverted to the previous version and all is well again.

I would have hoped NG would have vetted the new version better, would notice others problems with the new version and would fix or remove it.

Re: R7000 Problems after Update to Firmware V 1.0.9.60_10.2.60

I also had to re-install version 42 to fix the router issues with Firmware V 1.0.9.60_10.2.60.

I have several ip cameras, tablets, and netgear extender, and 4 PCs.  I lost so many connections, including my networked devices, and had all kinds of issues logging in.  I spent hours cussing up a storm.  After constantly changing settings to try and get things back, I finally gave up and used the 42 version, and now all is good again.  What a nightmare.  I hope a new version is better, because I am sick of seeing a display saying I have a firmware upgrade available.  Wish I could turn that notice off.  Very annoying, when the new up grade available is BAD BAD BAD...........D-F

the 10.2.60 was a horrible upgrade for me. My speed dropped into 1 from my normal 30. I rolledback to and problem went away.

Re: R7000 Problems after Update to Firmware V 1.0.9.60_10.2.60

I had the exact same problem and it started after I upgraded my router firmware. My wife works from home and she has been late to her meeting countless times. I have spent so much time trying to fix my laptop, tablets when the router was the culprit all along.

So I looked around in several forums and someone mentioned that reverting to an older firmware fixed the problem. So I downloaded the Firmware Version 1.0.9.42 (the OP in that post mentioned that 1.0.9.42 is known stable firmware) and...

It's a shame that Netgear released multiple botched firmware for one of their most popular routers. Smiley Mad
