I upgraded to V18.104.22.168_10.2.88, and my Amazon Firestick is not working and I would like to move back to older version, please. Kindly suggest the older version number and how to download and move back to it.
We are looking into these reported issues with the .88 firmware. If you like to revert the firmware I linked some KBs below.
I have successfully rolled back to .64 as of last Saturday, no issues with WIFI over internet and full line speed - all ok.
Daz, do you have any ETA when .88 will be rectified? Or any update? Cheers.
I'm having the same issue after updating to R7000-V22.214.171.124_10.2.88 firmware, my Firestick connects to WiFi but not Internet. After getting a replacment Firestick from Amazon it does the same thing. Eventually figured I had updated the R7000 firmware recently so rolled it back to R7000-V126.96.36.199_10.2.64 which solves the problem. Had the R7000 since launch and updated the firmare multiple times without issue so hoping this gets fixed soon, don't want to be behind with any security updates.
Note: other devices didn't appear to be impacted by this (laptop OK) but I didn't test with all my devices.
.88 firmware us unusable for a great number of people. Consensus is that .42 is the last good firmware (it's certainly the last one that's been usuable for me), though a few people are finding that .64 is acceptable.
It's incredible that Netgear's firmware has fallen off a cliff like this. I'll never buy another Netgear product again.
Yeah .64 is good for me, no issues with WIFI connectivity and no slowness in linespeed with .64, I read the samething as you read and rolled the dice and rolled back to .64 and worked.
What I want to know is when is NETGEAR going to release the next firmware update after .88?
I purchased both a R7000 router and EX7700 Mesh Extender earlier in the year. The firmware on the R7000 was upgraded to version 188.8.131.52 and this was totally unusable as I needed to reboot several times a day. Went back to version 184.108.40.206 and all worked well but I still needed to reboot every 18 days--this was like clockwork; would lose the Internet connection at 18 days of uptime.
Recently upgraded the R7000 firmware to the .88 version and it has been running for 9 days now.
I am unable to use the EX7700 Mesh Extender anymore with the .88 firmware on the router. On initial boot of the EX7700 connections come up fine but after a couple hours the Extender will drop both connections to the router. Client devices attached to the Extener maintain this connection but since Extender to Router is broken the clients have no access to anything except other clients on the Extender. The EX7700 is on firmware version EX7700-V220.127.116.11 (latest). Sometimes after restarting the EX7700 it will show an actual connection refusal to the Router on either or both 2.4GHz or 5Ghz channels.
Netgear--any fix coming and noting other users issues?
Having issues myself. Namely:
- DNLA settings are now gone
- Can't change device priority in QoS
Not an issue, but I did notice that on SmartConnect settings now for the first time the 2.4G and 5G connections do not need to be set at the same speed. No mention of this in the release notes. C'mon Netgear...
There is definitely a problem with this version. Can't connect to the 5GHz network. It keeps saying my password is wrong.
This is really the worst firmware update ever! Guest accounts no longer work. Access control works super bad, new equipment is only visible after hours that it is blocked. The Access Control page gives an incomplete picture, the names of the equipment disappear. The List does not display all connected devices, it often takes hours for the list to be complete again. If you want to change an existing name, it will no longer be displayed.
I tried to restore a previous firmware version, even that didn't work! After an hour that the router was busy with the firmware, it took the chance to reset the router, luckily it still started up, but unfortunately with the latest firmware.

Probably there will be many more mistakes, but this is what I have come across.
my internet just keeps going down. my PC is hard wired and that keeps losing connection. I have now rolled it back, as this wasnt happening before the update.
We have two firestick (one 4k and the other a non-4k) and have not noticed an issue with them yet but I did have my first outage today. This comes just a few days after updating to 10.2.88. I came straight from version 18.104.22.168. I could login to the router on wired network without issue but could not get to interface on laptop over wifi. Going to monitor this for a few more days to see if it repeats. I did look at the following page before rebooting: http://r7000.home.ip.address/debug.htm and didnt notice anything odd with CPU or memory.
Wired internet worked fine but all my wired PCs connect to a switch, then to a pfsense box. They do not connect to the R7000.
had to revert to .64 due to wifi just cutting out intermittently. Then not long after had to revert to .42 as .64 was doing the same thing with wifi.
I am having the same issues here with the firmware. Ran it for a long time and really did not notice anything until others started complaining about wifi issues in the house.
My PC which is near the router and connected via cable had no issues. However, downloading anything on other wireless computers through the house would cause downloads to fail, games would fail to update, frequent disconnections from the wireless network.
I used, https://www.thinkbroadband.com/download, to test large file downloads as some in the house download files around this size periodicly. On all the wireless computers these would fail, but would work on the one wired into the router.
The fix for me was a paper clip reset, putting the .42 firmware on, reset again, and putting as little into the reservation tables and QOS as possible. The wireless side has been working well, files downloaded are completing, games are updating, things are generally better and the wireless network even seems faster.
I join the list of others here that regret I spent what I did on this router, and WILL NOT be considering Netgear products PERIOD until more testing is done on their releases, and WILL NOT be updating firmware in the future until these bugs are fixed.
On a different topic, would flashing a different firmware on here work, or make the issues better like Tomato or DD-WRT, at least for this specific router?
Have to reset the router pretty much every two to three weeks, since no device connects on WiFi. Wired devices work fine..

Well this firmware has been crap. I am having to reset the router (remove ac power) every few days to get it back up and working. It will even appear ok by the lights. Funny thing also... I got an email from Netgear today saying there was a firmware /security update and I go in and look and it says firmware is up to date. I really hope they fix this flaky firmware. I have V22.214.171.124_10.2.88
I paid way too much for this device for poor firmware development. I can understand security patches but the thing shouldn't be locking up and once a lot of people are having trouble you should have a new firmware out right away.
