Re: R7000 keeps dropping wifi connection
I'm not using Chromecast. I use Roku for streaming. It drops signal constantly. Can't watch a movie* without interruption.

Think:
R7000 Firmware Version 1.0.9.26 | Answer | NETGEAR Support
Not for the R7000P either:
That's:

Re: R7000 keeps dropping wifi connection
So, I am having this kind of problem too. My R7000 looks like it's up, all lights on but there's no wifi signal to be seen. The extenders (netgear) drop connection. My Windows PC and iPhone all lose connection. So I've been following these threads...all netgear devices to lates firmware. Hard resets on all devices. Check settings again and again. This morning I made this change: Change DHCP from 192.168.0.2-255 to 192.168.0.50-255. Changed all the extenders to fixed IP address in the range 192.168.0.2-192.168.0.5 Printer to 192.168.0.6...refreshed all PC and iphone DHCP leases. It's a bit early to tell, but so far so good!

Re: R7000 keeps dropping wifi connection
I am a Network Engineer and have a lot of experience but can not find a solution to this ongoing problem of the R7000 dropping the 5G network constantly. I have used a Network Monitor and posted the screen shots of the dropping 5G network. I have tried the resets, updated the firmware, rolling back the firmware, manually configuring the channel and IP address, etc. etc. etc.etc. etc.
IT STILL IS DROPPING THE 5G NETWORK AND NETGEAR HAS PROVIDED NO HELP!!!!
Based on the 32 response I got from my original post, there is still no fix. My only alternative is to buy a different Router and never purchase another Netgear product!!!
VERY FRUSTRATING!!!

Where do you see something newer?
This is the support section for the R7000:
Nighthawk R7000 | AC1900 Smart WiFi Router | NETGEAR Support
At the top of the page it shouts:
R7000 Firmware Version 1.0.9.28

Re: R7000 keeps dropping wifi connection
Bought this R7000 model about a month ago from Best Buy. Yesterday I thought my Internet went down but then It was really this router. I believe I'm using firmware 26 and I know there is a newer version of 28. A little disappointed so far.

There is support material, including a manual, for the R7000 somewhere at the end of this link:
>>>> R7000 | Product | Support | NETGEAR <<<<
The latest firmware is there too:
R7000 Firmware Version 1.0.9.28 | Answer | NETGEAR Support
Flash that, factory reset the router and see if that fixes your problems.

I have tried Auto and each individual channel with same problem. It is not a channel issue.

Re: R7000 keeps dropping wifi connection
Possible solution: completely cleanse the wifi settings on the devices and reconnect.
This worked for me. I'm on the xvortex/merlin asuswrt firmware.
A while ago I suddenly had issues with some ios devices not connecting to the 2.4 ghz band/ sudden drop outs. I tried to revert to older firmwares , even stock, but the problem still remained. I got the idea to try resetting all wifi settings on my iphone, reconnected to the network, and suddenly it worked again. This might be stating the obvious but don't neglect to try this if all else fails.

Good move. As you say, it is a bit like stating the obvious, but it is really one of the first things to try. It is painless.

Re: R7000 keeps dropping wifi connection
Thank you for your suggestion. I have reset the device to factory defaults and reconfigured it several times, changed channels, tried different firmware versions, etc. etc.

Re: R7000 keeps dropping wifi connection
I have a similar setup in my Florida home using a different router and have not had 1 problem. The R7000 is in our PA home and I have about 30 devices connected (similar) to Florida. If reconfoguring all my devices to fix an obvious Netgear issue is the answer, it is not an acceptable solution.

Re: R7000 keeps dropping wifi connection
Factory resetting my router and changing firmware did nothing for me but resetting the networks of the devices solved it.

Another way to describe this might be to say that you just have to tell the wifi clients to forget that they knew about this router.
Tell it to forget the saved settings for the wifi client, the SSID and password. Then join the wifi network again.
The reason for doing this after a factory reset is that the reset will wipe out the configuration and things like the SSID and password. And that can confuse any wifi clients that used to connect.
Alternatively, go into the router's wifi settings and change the SSID and password back to whatever they were before the factory reset.
