Re: R7000 keeps losing 2.4GHz wireless connectivity
I didn't change my configuration lately. It was running stable for months. After FW R7000-V1.0.9.12_1.2.23 the problem started. The latest R7000-V1.0.9.14_1.2.25, updated yesterday, isn't solving the wifi 2.4 issue.
I have 3 SSID's, one for 2.4 and one for 2.4 guest and one for 5. It has nothing to do with the configuration. There is something wrong in the last 2 or more versions.

Re: R7000 keeps losing 2.4GHz wireless connectivity
@Westfa - Thanks for the insight on the wi-fi button - indeed that "light" is also a button! I had not noticed. Next time it fails I'll try that instead of rebooting. However (fingers crossed) - I have not had a failure in several days after turning off the 5 GHz radio - thanks again to @Volstate for that discovery.
We agree the 5G trick is NOT a fix but a short term pain-reliever at best. Hope to see another new firmware release soon... I wonder if anyone who is still under warranty has filed a complaint with Netgear??

Re: R7000 keeps losing 2.4GHz wireless connectivity
I installed V1.0.9.14_1.2.25 and starting getting 2.4 disconnects.
Solved the problem by changing the 2.4 Channel from 'Auto' to '11'.
Ever since I made that change, no disconnects.

Re: R7000 keeps losing 2.4GHz wireless connectivity
I've tweeted @netgear including a link to this thread. Doubt it will do anything, but if firmware breaks their device, they should prioritize a fix, don't you think?

I had the same problem but with 5ghz. I went back 4 firmware versions and it was still doing the same thing so I factory reset using the hardware button and so far 24hrs have passed and it's working fine.
Did you previously try a factory reset in the HTML router interface and it did not help? I had a similar experience where the hardware button reset seemed to do something more extensive than the software factroy reset...

Re: R7000 keeps losing 2.4GHz wireless connectivity
i've been going through similar pains. Tonight I will try to disable 5GHz and do a factory reset from the button over the web. If that doesn't work, i'll try reverting firmware version and perform factory resets.

Re: R7000 keeps losing 2.4GHz wireless connectivity
I received a link to a beta firmware -> from JamesGL
Am I the only one who received this beta?
This morning problems again. Devices still connected to 2.4 GHz but no trafic possible. After connecting to 5 GHz the smartphone was communicating again. 2.4 GHz was not working, all 2.4 devices weren't able to communicate. Switching guest off with the Genie app was enough to bring 2.4 GHz back to work again.

Re: R7000 keeps losing 2.4GHz wireless connectivity
Anyhow I just moved from 1.0.0.96 to 1.0.7.12 last night. If that remains stable I'll give this "new beta" a try tonight.
At least maybe it's a good sign the netgear moderators are getting involved... Perhaps it's a sign they are starting to acknowledge the screw up in the recent firmware...

Re: R7000 keeps losing 2.4GHz wireless connectivity
Let me join this club, just to make this issue more... public, instead of personal.
Since a couple of days, I'm having the same issue, without making any changes to the settings.
In an attempt to fix it, I did a soft reboot, hard reboot, factory reset, fw update (to V1.0.9.14_1.2.25); none of it made any difference
What I find strange, are the frequent messages like these, I find in the log every 15 minutes:
[Time synchronized with NTP server] Tuesday, Dec 12,2017 13:24:48

Okay, thanks, didn't notice it happened 4 times per hour.
One other thing that I've noticed, is the strange behaviour in the 'Attached Devices'-list.
A device connected to 2.4GHz often just disappears from the list, while still being connected and having an operational wifi-connection. After some time, the connection gets lost, and can't get re-established for some reason. This happens with all kind of devices.

Re: R7000 keeps losing 2.4GHz wireless connectivity
That problem is exacly the same as I have: see earlier post:
"Devices still connected to 2.4 GHz but no trafic possible. After connecting to 5 GHz the smartphone was communicating again. 2.4 GHz was not working, all 2.4 devices weren't able to communicate. Switching guest off with the Genie app was enough to bring 2.4 GHz back to work again."
Can anyone confirm that version 1.0.7.2_1.1.93 or maybe a few versions older or one or two versions newer is stable??? I had 1.0.7.2_1.1.93 running for years without any problems. Never rebooted the router. I never updated until a few weeks ago. I want to know if returning to 1.0.7.2_1.1.93 and completely reseting the router will solve all the wifi 2.4 GHz problems. I know 1.0.7.2_1.1.93 was perfect for me. I even have a config backup file from that time. So is it worth to downgrade to 1.0.7.2_1.1.93 and never update again???

Re: R7000 keeps losing 2.4GHz wireless connectivity
FYI, a couple days ago i did a software reset through GUI, this didn't make a different. Last night I disabled 5GHz and haven't had any drops/symptoms.
Hoping this will get me by until hey fix everything.

Re: R7000 keeps losing 2.4GHz wireless connectivity
Just got the same problem again (FW: V1.0.9.14_1.2.25):
2.4 GHz devices had problems again. Very strange, a ping was giving a normal reply but accessing the webpage of the wifi ip-cam was not possible. Device was also not available as connected device in the netgear list.
All 5 GHz devices didn't had any problem, also listed as connected device.
After a short while my remote raspberry pi session (I was remotely checking the problem) was gone. At that time the 2.4 GHz devices came back and they worked again. After restarting my remote session with my pi I saw the webpage of my wifi ip-cam again so 2.4 GHz was working again.
Conclusion:
- 2.4 GHz devices are losing their connection
- a ping is still working, normal reply from device
- after a while it start working again
- maybe with a short disconnection of all devices because my remote raspberry pi connection was gone for a moment.

I updated from 1.0.0.96 to 1.0.7.12 last night and I've been stable almost 12 hours now. So that version seems to be working at least...

Re: R7000 keeps losing 2.4GHz wireless connectivity
I also received the link from James and flashed the "beta" firmware. Within an hour the problem persisted.
I really would like it if we could find a recent firmware file that works, so we could downgrade until Netgear figures out what happened. I don't really want to beta test firmware.

Keep us informed!!
I am sure version 1.0.7.2_1.1.93 was working fine!! For years! So maybe 1.0.7.12 also! Maybe other guys can do this test too. I am 100% sure 1.0.7.2_1.1.93 was great. Please downgrade to 1.0.7.2_1.1.93 or 1.0.7.12 and reset with the switch on the back.

Re: R7000 keeps losing 2.4GHz wireless connectivity
Sincerely last post I've turned the 5ghz off and it's been noticeably better, only one crash in 48 hours.
But I bought a dual band router. I'd quite like to be able to use it as such.

Re: R7000 keeps losing 2.4GHz wireless connectivity
Add me to the list....
Updated the router a week or two ago. Started dropping all 2.4Ghz devices. Updated to the latest V1.0.9.14_1.2.25 and the problem persists.
I've had quite a few years of flawless service from this particular router. I can't believe they let a problem like this linger on week after week. Please Netgear, fix this ASAP!

Re: R7000 keeps losing 2.4GHz wireless connectivity
This morning again problems with my 2.4GHz devices. My IP-Cam web interface, not reachable. BUT VERY STRANGE: reply to Ping is still working. Also a NAS connected via a WiFi to UTP device, cannot open web interface.
Please try to ping the devices which are gone! And tell me if you have the same.
Turning WiFi down and on with the switch on the router solved it again.
