R7000 will not work with new modem

I purchased a Arris modem Model SB6183. It only has one Ethernet  connection so I can't hookup my router.How do I hook it up?

   Huh?  "so"?  "can't"?  Why, exactly?  What, exactly, is stopping you?
What, exactly, are you connecting to what, exactly?

   Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation.  Get the User Manual (at least).  Read.

Modem has 1 Ethernet port. The r7000 has one WAN Ethernet port. Do not understand why you cannot connect the two together. Need info on what you are trying to do.

Visit the support pages for your R7000:

Support | NETGEAR

and feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.

The Quick Start Guide is a good place to start.

 

Remember, if you are replacing a modem, then you will need to reset the router too. It needs to forget any settings inherited fro the previous modem.
