R7000P Dropping internet - new for 2021
R7000P has been solid for over three years. Twice in last two weeks the internet has dropped. Once I still had access to my LAN, the second time I did not. In neither case did router lights indicate a problem. Modem and router both have UPSs. In each case, a router reboot was required to fix the issue. The second reboot seemed to take a loooong time, Subjectively at least a couple of minutes, but certainly longer than usual. Latest microcode - which has been installed a while. No recent changes to anything,
Any suggestions welcome. Could this be some sort of HW deterioration that is going to require a new modem? My spouse is non-technical and gets very frustrated when this happens, sometimes taking actions which then also require fixing. HELP, please!

You have the R7000P?
What firmware is on it?
What modem/gateway is it connecte to?
What have you done to try to fix it?
Does everything drop when it goes down? (wired, 2.4ghz/5ghz)
What fixes it when it drops?

R7000P model AC2300
Firmware: V1.3.1.64_10.1.36 (latest available, been running for months)
Connected to FIOS modem, as it has been continuously since September 2020
What have I done to try to fix? Checked modem, router power supplies. No error lights on either. So far, all I have been able to do is reboot router. That "fixes" it. But after months of flawless performance (and years if you count pre-fios when it was connected to a cable modem) it has failed twice in a week.
The first time, we lost only internet while LAN wired and wireless both frequencies continued to operate. Today we lost everything, local and internet.
I hope that answers all your questions. Any suggestions would be most welcome. The router is just over two years old.

You could try a factory reset and reinstall. maybe something in the fimrware settings is corrupt.
You could also try reinstalling the firmware. If something in the firmware is corrupt, reinstalling the firmware can overwrite it.

Seems unlikely the firmware installation is corrupt because it has been operating correctly for so long. If it happens again, I'll go the factory reset route. Thank you for your help and advice. Problems with no identifiable cause are always unnerving.

length of time can impact firmware. solar radiation, heat, power surges/fluctuations, all can impact firmware.
Which is why sometimes a reinstall can help.

The same thing has been happening to me.
Symptom is the router appears to hang.
Can't access the internet.
All LEDs are white.
I'll plug directly into the ethernet port and still can't access the internet.
50-50 on whether I can get in the admin console.
Netgear hasn't changed the firmware in a while.
V1.3.1.64_10.1.36
I've been down the road of factory reset, etc. as well.
Works for up to a week, then back to it hanging up.
So far, the only workaround is rebooting the router.
Does anyone know if there is any limit to the number of devices attached to 2.4 or 5G?
I have had the ISP replace the modem just for grins and that has not addressed the issue either. Each time it locks up i have them check the modem and they see the modem. I reboot the router, then they see it connected.
Our download speeds are consistantly around 300mb.
We are not hitting anywhere close to that limit.
I am at a loss.
