I tend to ramble. so i will do my best to break this down.
I have:
R700P Nighthawk (disabled DCHP with alternate ip address set) connected to my sagecom router (wifi disabled on all bands)
My family needs the Sagecom as they want the homeline to still be used (which we dont use anyway)
so my current set up is (Im australian) NBN into my sagecom device then into my nighthawk to use the NH for the wifi.
i can log into my sagecom router no problem.
when i use the ip i set for the NH or use the routerlogin.net it takes forever to load and then returns with a timed out error.
the wifi still works and seems to be running smoothly but i need to access the nighthawk without having to factory reset everytime i need to use the NH GUI. (as i have once before)
If i was unclear on anything please let me know and ill clarify.
thank you in advance 😄

> R700P Nighthawk [...]
Firmware version?

It sounds as if you're trying to configure the R7000P as a wireless
access point. Did you configure the R7000P as a wireless access point
in the way shown in the R7000P User Manual, or did you explicitly
disable the DHCP server, and fiddle with one of the two possible IP
addresses on the R7000P, or what?
How/where, exactly, did you set this "alternate ip address", and to
what did you set it? You should be setting the LAN IP address, not the
WAN/Internet IP address.
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation. Get the User Manual. Read. Look for "Use the
Router as a WiFi Access Point". That's not the only way, but it is the
usually-less-troublesome way. Note that the as-documented R7000P-as-WAP
wiring scheme might differ from what you have been doing.
When you use the as-documented way, then, by default ("Get
dynamically from existing router"), the R7000P-as-WAP would use DHCP to
get its new LAN IP address from your (unspecified) "my sagecom router",
and you'd typically look at some kind of "connected devices" or "DHCP
clients" report on that main router to learn what that address is.
Presumably, (the DHCP server in) your (unspecified) "my sagecom router"
has some kind of address reservation scheme, which would let you specify
a fixed address for the R7000P-as-WAP, so that you could find it again
more easily.
Presumably, putting _that_ IP address into a web browser would get
you to the management web site of the R7000P-as-WAP from anyplace on
your LAN.

It was suggested by a member of whirlpool.net to disable DCHP and change the lan ip to 192.168.0.240
The router was a return and did come with the user manual so i was unsure of the bridge setting and if that would work as the network configuration i was going for is, perculiar.
I did the WAP setup bridge you sugested and that allows me to login to both devices easily and the ips show up on the nighthawk bette with the device names, so it seems to be working alot better now.
so thank you.
