R7000P firmware issues, etc.

I've been messing with my R7000P, AC2300 most of the night.  A connected device has been dropping it's connection.

The connections have been working perfect for a year on all devices until now.

The modem is pegged at 100 Mbps and will go over 200 Mpbs on a couple newer devices. So....

I realized that the router hadn't been updating the firmware. It won't find any updates automatically apparently.

I manually updated the next update. The Nighthawk app saw good signal on all devices connected.

Then, I manually updated to the newest version. The Nighthawk app see almost no signal on any device.

So, I've retreated to 1.31.64_10.1.36  I find this all disheartenling. This thing is only a year old.

I'm not sure why the one device is dropping. Speed is going up and down all day.

Also, the newest firmware update appears not to work right witht the Nighthawk app.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

   What?  "connected" how?  Wired?  Wireless?

> [...] has been dropping it's connection. [...]

"dropping [its] connection" to the R7000P, or to some web site on the
Internet, or what?

By "The modem", do you mean the R7000P (a router, not a modem), or
some actual modem?  Have you an actual modem?  To what is the R7000P
connected?

"Newest" and "best" are spelled differently for a reason.  Netgear
router firmware does not improve monotonically.

> [...] I'm not sure why the one device is dropping. [...]

If only one device is affected, then I'd be looking at that device,
or for things which make it different from other devices (radio band,
geography, activities, ...).

> [...] Speed is going up and down all day.

That's pretty vague.  "Speed" measured how, using which device(s)?
"up and down" between what and what?

Re: R7000P firmware issues, etc.

Current firmware

Firmware Version
V1.3.3.140_10.1.75

Symptoms

device keeps rebooting

2.4ghz gets 100 to 200 mb if that.

5ghz gets 200 mb to 230ish.....

direct connect (if router does not self reboot) gets almost 1 gig

biggest issue is rebooting and the fact the LOG file only stores the last 1to 4 hours then erases  every time i log in so no way to capture what is going on with out doing Pcap capture using another network device. Cannot save log file either. This is stupid. Normal ppl do not know what any of this troubleshooting involves and in this case it would take a full debug to figure it out. It is NOT oh reboot device, reload firmware, its your network settings blah blah blah.

Firmware is all jacked, I have tried all versions and same issue, Router keeps rebooting

and I am not getting the speeds I should be getting over WiFi consistantly. This is very sad for a $350.00 router.

Before you even suggest or ask. Yes I have tested all devices against a different router and they work fine with that router, that router gives the speed it has in its specs. AT&T ONT Router.

So NO it is not my devices, i have 17 devices and same issue on all.

I will be dropping the firmware back down 1 version because that was the version with the least issues.

YOU NEED TO FIX YOUR FIRMWARE....

after this experience I will never be purchasing a router from this company ever again.
