R7100LG Modem Router drops connection every 1 hour

Hi

 

My modem is dropping its connetion every 1 hour.

for example: i watch a movie it stop at 1.13 again at 2.13 again at 3.13 and so on.

There is no matter on connected devices. i tryed phones, pc, xbox wii. all single connected. tryed them wired and with wlan. all thhe same.

 

I Tryed several isp`s, modem settings, firmware versions.

I told it to the support did all tey told me, got an new device, wrote a protocoll by my self.

i gave all data like protocolls logs failsafe stuff screenshots from settings to support.

but nothing solved my problem.

 

so what to do now? support is only telling me to have patience since 6 months.

Welcome to the community, @Absynthe

 

Which connection is your main internet source?

Is it through the sim or you have a modem connected to the router?

Who is your Internet Service Provider?
Is the disconnection happening on wired and wireless devices?

What do you mean by "tried several ISP"?

Hi

 

I running internet through sim card only.

ISP means Internet Service Providers.

I tryed A1, T-Mobile and Telering as ISP.

I talked to the ISP Servicelines and got told that the connection was ongoing at the times i told them.

It happens at all devices Wireless and wired. like android phones, xbox 360, xbox one, wii U, wired PC and Laptop and Notebook over w-lan.

I tried other routers with the cards and they worked.

I tryed every device single connected.

 

There is nothing in the Log-files

Did you try resetting the unit after upgrading it to fw version 1.0.0.32?

When you tried other routers, are you trying it in the same location where the R7100LG is?

This might be happening because the R7100LG is not getting a good signal.

Try to relocate the router. If it's the same thing, perhaps it could be a faulty unit. Get an RMA if it's within hardware warranty.

I resetted the device after your post but same as before.
Yes i tryed all the modems at the same place. The connection is ok at all devices.
The Nighthawk is the second one after support sent me a new one. The first had the same 1 hour disconnects.

I have the same problem. I'm also not able to use the rooter with my playstation 4. Tried everything written above.

I think there is an problem at communication between router and modem part.

i have the same problem, every day i have to restart the router because the connection is lost. reconnect doesnt work. any news? tried update/reset/allthethings. i saw this bug in a log of shop-forums where users are complaning... would be nice to have a fix soon for such a expensive router.

Support told me something about dhcp lease time. But no nothing new. Waiting 9 month now....

Hi,

 

I have the same issue. It interrupts my screen sharing sessions with customers when using Skype for Business / Lync. The disconnects happen exactly every 1 hour.

 

Workaround (makes you wanna cry): I rebooted my router at 8:59 to that the interruption is every hour on the dot. Therefore I have less chances to interrupt a remote customer screen sharing session (I/they usually start sharing screens after the beginning of the meeting and stop sharing before the end)...

Hi Absynthe, what do you mean a zip file? Do you mean a beta version of the firmware? Did Netgear support send you that?

I think thats an pre beta file with an size of 20Mb. Direct from development team.But its broken somehow.

I have the same problem. I also use the R7100LG through sim card only and I have a good LTE connection. The connection drops multiple times every day. I never had a similar problem with my old LTE router (with the same sim card and same provider).

I'm uing the latest SW V1.0.0.38_1.0.6 and the problem is still there. Any suggestions?

Same problem here, tried last FW version 1.0.0.38, internet connexion still drops every hour.
Strangly, if I ping a remote adress, there is no timeout. So the LTE connexion is still there. But it seems that all TCP / UDP connexions are droped.
Tried 2 sim cards from 2 different providers, makes no difference. LTE signal is good on both case.
Please help.

The device is just NOT working as it should, so there is nothing u can do to fix the problem.
BUT...
I got an semi working beta firmware from dev-team. I will try to upload and share it when i am back home.

Hi

 

At first a little guide:

 

Save your settings

Download the file

install it

do you realy want to install an older firmware? Yes you do!

Load your settings (or setup all new by yourself)

Now the important:

enter the debug page of your device at:

www.routerlogin.net/debug.htm

scroll to the bottom and sellect 120 hours

klick on Debug apply next to that

scroll down again

klick on mobile apply

Finaly klick on Start capture.

now it should work

 

every time your device shows some strange behavior go back to the debug page and klick on Save Debug Log and please upload the fils and post it here in the forum so the dev team can finaly fix that lte modem router.

Netgear team / Elen, please comment on this:
I was using beta firmware "R7100LG_Q1_1.0.0.33" which partially fixes issues but my router automatically upgraded to "R7100LG_1.0.0.34" which fixes some security issues according to the log but is as bad as "R7100LG_Q1_1.0.0.32" as for interupting the internet every hour. Smiley Sad

Do you officially advise R7100LG owners to manually downgrade to beta FW "R7100LG_Q1_1.0.0.33"? Or can you share as soon as possible a new beta fw including recent security fixes?

I tried the firmware posted by Absynthe but it makes no difference for me, I'm still disconnected every hour.

Try to instal the latest FW. and then reinstall the posted one. It didnt worked for me to at first but now i cant notice any disconnections.
And follow the steps as i wrote in the guide.
