Re: R7500 Beta FW V1.0.0.74

The new V1.0.0.74 is running fine so far, will test to see if the slow connection problems with the PS4 (2.4 GHz only) are still present or not. Regarding to the release notes they have done nothing so far to improve the 2.4 GHz wireless performance.

Re: R7500 Beta FW V1.0.0.74

With this beta firmware, everything on 5 GHz is a blast and everything on 2.4 GHz is a shame, all my gadgets on 2.4 GHz are barely working including the PS4, Philips Hue Lightning, Logitech Harmony Ultimate and my wireless speaker. Very disappointing.

Re: R7500 Beta FW V1.0.0.74

The only issue so far is with the qos attached devices displaying for 5 seconds then dissappearing for about 15 seconds then reappearing again.

The only issue so far is with the qos attached devices display, they disappear after 5 seconds only to reappear 15 seconds later an a continuous cycle. No trouble connecting on 2.4 or 5ghz with any device from skybox to xbox one.

Re: R7500 Beta FW V1.0.0.74

Just one small thing no hassle really but with the qos the headers are shifted one place to the left, underneath the Status heading is the device priority , underneath the Device Priority heading is the connection type, also the Status shows nothing at all. I have taken screenshot if you want to see it.

Re: R7500 Beta FW V1.0.0.74

Regarding "improve 5GHz performance", I have been running this Beta 74 and it may have resolved a problem I reported to Netgear support in October (#24016424). For the first few firmware versions of R7500, I was unable to reliably connect my Netgear WN2500RP Fastlane mode 5GHz to router (which had worked reliably with older Netgear R6300). It would work for awhile after restarting the R7500 radio (such as power-cycling or changing the channel). But after the R7500 ran awhile the WN2500RP would just keep looping trying to connect.

Netgear support was not helpful regarding this problem in October while WN2500RP was still in warranty. I went out and bought Netgear EX6200 to replace WN2500RP (it worked fine, presumably because of AC instead of A-N)

After putting Beta 74 on my R7500, I tried WN2500RP again and it has been connecting fine (I'd call it more like "compatibility" than "performance"). Unfortunately I am past the return period for the EX6200 I had purchased as workaround.

Re: R7500 Beta FW V1.0.0.74

This firmware has a bug. If you go to advanced wireless settings and uncheck 'Allow 20/40MHz coexistence' and click Apply nothing will happen so change will not be applied:confused:

Re: R7500 Beta FW V1.0.0.74

With this firmware have noticed better performance and more consistent through both my 2.4 and 5 ghz bands. Less drops, though one of my laptops doesn't even see the 5ghz band anymore.

Though I had to shut off the advanced multimedia shaping on both bands and now am relying on the priority QoS to manage connections and it has been good so far.

With the wmm enabled my devices would barely get more than 1-2 Mbps when only one device was even using the connection. I have a 75/75 connection. I can have multiple devices streaming now with little issue. No more hiccups in video speed and youtube runs smooth on multiple devices.

Try to use a different browser. It could be a browser issue.

Re: R7500 Beta FW V1.0.0.74

If I install this beta ahead of the official release and a bug is found will I get the official update when it's released?

Re: R7500 Beta FW V1.0.0.74

The router randomly froze last night on me with this firmware. Could not login either through the wire or wifi.

Had to hard reboot it. Been running since the beta firmware came out.

---to answerable question, if there are bugs in the beta, they will just release an updated firmware later for us to download. I.e version .79 or whatever...

Re: R7500 Beta FW V1.0.0.74

I'm not on the beta but recently I have been have random disconnects from Xbox live and sometimes when I go to "network settings" it says "no wireless networks found" and I got to reboot . Does anyone know why this is happening and has a permanent solution?
