R7500 Nighthawk ::: 5 GHz band doesn't work

The 2.4 GHz band has always worked pretty well on my router, but the 5GHz band never works consistently.  Sometimes that band is available, i can connect to it, but then it stops working (either no connection to internet or the band itself disappears).

Ideas?

What is the firmware version of the router?

What is the channel selected for 2.4Ghz?

firmware v 1.0.0.118

2.4Ghz on AUTO channel (showing channel 4)

5.0 Ghz (the one that doesn't work well is showing channel 153

I have another network extender that is on channel 11 (Hub 2n)

As i'm sitting here looking at these settings the 5 Ghz band shows on my available router list, then it is gone, then it is there, then it is gone...

this is the exact problem i have with 5 Ghz

I have the same issue with the current firmware, and the (at least) 2 previous versions of firmware....
