R7900 Nighthawk AC3000 No Internet Connection

Device:
Nighthawk X6S AC3000 Tri Band WiFi Router /R7900P

 

Issue:
-No wifi/wire connection available
-Amber LEDs /Power LED

 

Troubleshooting steps[summary]

-plugged labtop via wire cable port 3.
-(made sure external wifi connections were NOT present/turned off wifi)
-IPconfig shows no gateway

-unable to connect via browser to
192.168.1.1
192.168.0.1


Turned off/on Router - same result
tried factory reset - same result

downloaded netgear genie for windows
(again made sure isp cable and cable to laptop are plugged

netgear shows no connection from
device to laptop
isp to device


note device power still amber.

There is something wrong with your firmware.

 

There is a manual for the R7900 somewhere at the end of this link:

You may have to resort to TFTP.

 

How to upload firmware to a NETGEAR router using TFTP | Answer | NETGEAR Support

 

That is a bit out of date in that it does not tell you that Windows has a TFTP function built in, you just have to enable it.

 

  • Control Panel
  • Programs and Features
  • Turn Windows features on or off
  • TFTP client - enable

That's probably easier than retrieving TFTP software from a website.
