Since last couple of power outages I noticed that my netgear route is not retaining the configuration chagnes (like wifi name, password, etc) and going back to factory default. I tried resetting the route manually also and it does not retain the setting.
Also having some other power related issues and thus it is painful to do the setting again and again. There is no option to export the configuration as weel that would have saved some time.
Any suggestions other then buying the new router 🙂

Sounds to me like bad hardware. Have you tried a settings reset before reconfiguring it?

Your unbounded confidence is impressive.
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look for Documentation. Get the User Manual (at least). Read. Look for "Manage the Configuration File of the Router". But, if the settings are lost spontaneously, that that's only a work-around.
