R8000 200Mbps Download Speed on 1Gbps Wired Connection

Hi all, I'm getting less than 200mbps D/L speed on my 1Gbps plan and I'm unsure what seems to be the problem... I am using a wired connection (CAT 5e) and I did a speedtest here. Resetted router to factory default settings, but still the same. My setup is Router > ONT > ISP.

What could be the issue here?

I am using a 1800Mbps powerline adapter, however I also tried connecting directly to the router. Results were the same speeds. Doing my speed test on the QoS settings page however gave me around 400-500Mbps D/L and U/L speeds.

Which version of the R8000 firmware are you running? Netgear is terrible at their firmware quality. Rapid release circile but more miss than hit. A significant number of firmware versions have all sort of problems including WiFi drop out and performance degradation.

I tried the latest 1.0.4.* firmware and it caused WiFi drop out and performance hit of arounfd 25 - 30% via ethernet connection. Had to roll back to 1.0.3.54. 1.0.3.54 seems to be the last known stable version before 1.0.4.*

It could also be HW problem of course.

I ran Speedtest using an eternet connection directly to the back of the R8000. Firmware 1.0.4.4 has bad performance in addition to WiFi drop out. I have no QoS, No Circle, No Guest WiFi and No Parental Control. Everything is stock standard during testing.

I'm using V1.0.4.4_1.1.42. For wireless I do feel that sometimes it keeps disconnecting at certain points of time...

Direct connection from router LAN port to my PC's NIC. I use speedtest.net with the same ISP server to check my speeds (200mbps only).

Re: R8000 200Mbps Download Speed on 1Gbps Wired Connection

Okay before I roll back to that version, I just did a speedtest on my 5G Wifi on my mobile, and shockingly i am able to hit 360Mbps D/L and 460Mbps U/L speeds... My NIC is a Killer E2200 LAN Driver which supports Gigabit ethernet but I'm only getting 160-200Mbps... Could it be an issue on my Desktop instead? I don't see any Bandwidth control functions enabled.

Rolling back to that version worked, my speedtest from the QoS menu was 537Mbps Down and 716Mbps Up! But speedtest.net to the ISP's server is still the same... Only 150Mbps Down and 74Mbps Up...

2.4G Wifi is slightly below 100Mbps, while 5G is around 300-450Mbps.

I ran a diagnose on my NIC and turns out there seems to be a "Killer Bandwidth Management"... I've read up online on how to disable it. Going to restart my PC now to see if it works.

Rolling back to a stable version of Router firmware has fixed the wifi drop out problem. However there is still a problem with your Killer E2200 NIC which appears to be independent of the router.

Have you tried to find a update for the Killer E2200 nic driver may the driver is bad.

Updating to the latest driver for my NIC doesn't improve my connection speed at all. I haven't been able to find any solution.. I guess I'll have to stick with 150++Mbps for the moment being

One crazy idea is a new lan card if the lan card  plugs into a slot on your mother board, that would allow too see if that is the issue or not. most modern lan cards support a 1gb connection rate and are not that expensive just a idea .
