R8000 5Ghz wifi issue after upgrade to Firmware 1.0.4.68
Upgraded to Firmware 1.0.4.68 for R8000
For about 1 day, no issues on both 5Ghz wifi bands.
After about 1 day, one of the 5Ghz wifi band has very slow speed... <5mbps....
Normally, can get >300-400mbps....
If I reloaded the router, issue goes away... and then comes back after 2nd day.....

If you reload the router?
do you mean reboot the router or mean doing a factory reset on the router?

A factory reset can sometimes help if there's issues after a firmware change

Re: R8000 5Ghz wifi issue after upgrade to Firmware 1.0.4.68
- low speed throughput on one 5Ghz wifi band ( from iPhone/Mac)
- no issue on 2nd 5Ghz wifi band. Will monitor more on this...
This is the latest firmware version....

Re: R8000 5Ghz wifi issue after upgrade to Firmware 1.0.4.68
A lot of users stopped doing the auto-updates because of this issue on previous releases.
Could never get any help from Netgear.
I've never found a speed stable version since V1.0.4.28

Re: R8000 5Ghz wifi issue after upgrade to Firmware 1.0.4.68
For now, I am using only one 5Ghz band (low one) and it has been ok in the latest firmware.
Only the 2nd 5Ghz band (high one) is still affected; <1mbps/~40mbps vs 300-400+mbps up/down.

Re: R8000 5Ghz wifi issue after upgrade to Firmware 1.0.4.68
Looks like I was right to wait to upgrade my home routers. Given what I've seen coming from Netgear, particularly with all the shenanigans surrounding Genie "no longer supported" and the Nighthawk app needing a lot of work, I thought it might be smart to stay away from firmware updates until others have tested.
I know it's not a good long-term strategy to wait for others to test the firmware, until Netgear gets it right. I'm not happy to think it, having bought Netgear routers and appliances for 25 years, but it looks like it's time to start checking out the competition.
And thanks for posting about the stable version, @plemans - I hate going backwards, but I've been having weird performance stuff popping up after years of never having an issue. Time to test out 1.0.4.28!
