Re: R8000 Beta FW V1.0.0.90

Loaded and ready to go. Cannot put online while the Boss is working tonight. I'll switch in the morning. I did notice smart connect was not anywhere to be found??? I would expect more info regarding fixes, changes and or deletions.

This is the 2nd Beta FW I loaded and reconfigured today for this router.

Re: R8000 Beta FW V1.0.0.90

Hi,

For the layman, what does this mean?

"1. Wireless dongle firmware update"

What is specifically being updated and what is the expected result?

Re: R8000 Beta FW V1.0.0.90

The wireless dongle is a USB WIFI device used to add WIFI to a device that doesn't have a internal WIFI card, or to upgrade to a faster WIFI card. I would expect this would be used on Desktops mostly. NG does not Air all it's fixes for various reasons. I would only update if you have a problem. Unless the beta adds some functionality you're looking to use.

Re: R8000 Beta FW V1.0.0.90

I've installed x.90 beta software and all seems fine. SmartConnect still there and still works. Not sure yet if it fixes my intermittent radio drop-outs (as shown on android Wifi Analyzer), but will watch and see. Seems stable and at least no worse than x.74.

Which devices are you having this issue with? Can you provide more information on make/model and driver version?

I have a Dell Venue Pro 11 i5 that I changed out the network card for an Intel Dual Band 7260 AC card.

Are you having issues with 7260? I have Lenovo X1 Carbon with the same WIFI chipset/7260 and lose connection and especially from sleep/hibernation. Thanks

The newest 17.0.5. The issue is the 5Ghz only and I have smart connect on.

Same here, 17.0.5.8 and I had to throw my R7000 back into production and removed the R8000 until NTGR gets this addressed.

I never had any luck with sleep mode. Did it work with your previous router?

Re: R8000 Beta FW V1.0.0.90

Firmware 90 went crazy tonight. All my Android smart phones came up with authentication errors and would not connect to wifi. I then had them forget the wifi and they said wrong password. I then turned on show password. I typed in my password again this time seeing it. Nope would not connect. I rebooted the router and no luck. Finally i got one to connect with the same password. When I would try to go on youtube it would just buffer and never load past 1 sec.

Did a firmware downgrade to 74 and factory reset. Now android device work fine.
