Re: R8000 USB Drive Not Recognized

Please define "8TB Seagate backup USB 3 3 Drive is not recognized."?

Do you mean on the router when it is connected it doesn't show?

Does it show when you plug it into the USB 2.0 port?

Do you mean it doesn't show as a SHARE on your PC?

Is the drive a Desktop, which I think it is (has its own power supply) or a Portable (that draws power from the USB port)?

It appears the R8000 does have some problems with the USB 3.0 port, check this threads here for some details:

Re: R8000 USB Drive Not Recognized

You don't say, but I assume that is what we are talking about Readyshare. In addition to the observations from @IrvSp have you checked the list of compatible drives in Readyshare?

This list will give you some clues, although it is far from comprehensive or up to date:

ReadySHARE USB Drives Compatibility List | Answer | NETGEAR Support

The bigger the drive, the more problems people report. 8TB is kind of massive.

If it is one of those boxes that needs drivers to work in Windows, then it probably won't play ball with Readyshare. For serious use, it is better to use a "grown-up" technology – a genuine network attached LAN device – rather than Netgear's flaky Readyshare.

Just another user.
