R8000 X6 VPN

Just purchased an R8000 X6, install and configured it without any issues, until I attempted to configure the VPN option. Tried on two different Windown 10 clients, following all instructions and get the same WARNING: No server certificate verification method has been enabled. See http://openvpn.net/howto.html#mitm message on both. Netgear firmware test states that the unit is up to date and I cannot figure out how to make this work...

Not, sadly, the definitive answer. There can be updates that do not appear in the browser check.

There is support for the R8000, including a manual and firmware, somewhere at the end of this link:

>>>>> R8000 | Product | Support | NETGEAR <<<<<

Check the firmware section to see if you really do have the latest version.

Re: R8000 X6 VPN

The Firmware is 1.0.4.28_10.1.54, the latest according to Netgear'w website. The actual error from the log is:
Sun Jun 09 10:14:45 2019 us=479210 WARNING: No server certificate verification method has been enabled. See http://openvpn.net/howto.html#mitm for more info.

I have seen many posts about this but not a solution for the R8000...

Re: R8000 X6 VPN

I received a notification that the community received an acceptance of a solution. I amconfused, because I did not accept a solution. The problem with the VPN persists, and there have been no suggestions that have solved the issue. Going step by step and checking the manual, andthe firmware did not uncover any answers as to why this function will not work. I am confused and frustrated, and while the rest of the functions of this device work quite well, I will pobably return it as I cannot get support for this issue.

Not in this discussion. There is not SOLVED flag that I can see.

Must have been something else you subscribed to.

Re: R8000 X6 VPN

Have you filed a support case?

They have been known to close those prematurely!

These spurious "accepted as a solution" messages get sent frequently
for no good reason.  For example:

      https://community.netgear.com/t5/x/x/m-p/1667522#M519

You can judge for yourself how much Netgear cares.

Re: R8000 X6 VPN

Try adding the following 2 lines to your openvpn config file and reconnect.

remote-cert-tls server
auth-nocache

Even as administrator, changing permissions, etc. I cannot edit and save this file, it states that I do not have permission. I am the administrator/owner...
