R8000 won't connect to the wireless G network?

Hey guys:

I am trying to set this router up with wpa2 security.  When I set security to wpa2, the 2.4g network won't allow anything to connect.  The 5g neworks are available but signal strength then becomes an issue.  It attemps to connect  to 2.4g, gives a authentification error and then jumps back onto the wireless 5g N. If I leave the security off completely then devices can connect to the 2.4g?  I would prefer to not leave my network wide open. I tried downloading the latest firmware 1.0.3.32 and have the same results.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Is there something unusual about the passphrase?

Not sure what you mean by unusual?  9 characters all capitals, 3 numbers and that's it.

I was thinking something more exotic.  That clearly should be fine.

Are you trying  WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES] ???

I'm trying to get this security package.  WPA2-PSK [AES]

It keeps coming back with an authentification error???  Nor sure why and then it connects to one of the 5ghz frequencies.

Thanks

Maybe try WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES] (which is the default) and see if you get the same behavior.

Ok, I'll give it a whirl tomorrow.  The router is at my Aunt's house.  I'll post back to let you know how I make out.

Thanks!!!

What you trying to connect to?

Does it support the security standard you are trying to use?

It does. Trying to connect to a desktop, ipads and kindles, laptop and a couple of Fire Tv boxes.  I've had them all connected before this problem started.

Have you change ssid's or password's try reseting the network interfaces on the devices sometimes a device will accept the new router under the old settings.
