R8000P WAN aggregation issue

I am having internet speed drop issue with R8000P and WAN Aggregation. The WAN aggregation (1 Gbps + 1 Gbps) Status: is active.". It works great, but the speed drops to 15 Mbps to 20 Mbps sometime (at least once in a day). I am having 1 Gbps internet sevice through Xfinity.

In that case, I need to unplug the ethernet port 4 and plug it again in the router to resolve this issue without any modem/router restart. After that the internet speed become normal and perfect.

Re: R8000P WAN aggregation issue

How long has this been happening? Did it happen after a firmware update?

Re: R8000P WAN aggregation issue

It is the latest firmware (1.4.1.42). I beleive, the WAN aggregation is available only in the latest firmware.

I have recently upgraded to 1 Gbps plan and upgraded the modem too. I am seeing this issue from the begening of it.

Re: R8000P WAN aggregation issue

I don't see any issue after I disabled the WAN Aggregation feature in my router. I am sure, it is a bug in the R8000P modem firmware and Nightgear should fix it in the next firmware update.

Re: R8000P WAN aggregation issue

Is this issue fixed in the latest firmware (1.4.1.50_1.3.10) for R8000P?

Or

Is this new firmware just to make the Netgear Armor subscription ?

I beleive, I have reported a genuine issue which needs to be fixed for the router R8000P.

Re: R8000P WAN aggregation issue

Does R800P actually even support WAN Aggregation?

There is a link aggregation for ports 3 and 4 but those seem like are for LAN and not to connect to Cable modem. No?

Re: R8000P WAN aggregation issue

I have not been able to get WAN Aggregation to work. I can enable on both ends, but it always fails. Also, I can no longer get Gigabit speeds for some reason. I never see more than 350Mbps. ISP claims they are sending 1Gb though...

Greetings,

Please see the following:

https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/Nighthawk-R8000p-slow-speeds-when-wired/m-p/...

I have the R8000P and have tested port aggregation with firmwares 1.4.1.x (.30, .42, .50 and .62).  No speed degredation issues with devices connected to ports 1~2 with interfaces not configured as LACP connected.

Re: R8000P WAN aggregation issue

It shows the feature in the R8000p setup, and I believe it says its capable of above 1gbps provided you have paid for both connections through your isp, have a modem capable of lag, and have it enabled on the modem and nighthawk. That said, I haven't tried it.

Re: R8000P WAN aggregation issue

I have the same issue when using WAN aggregation on a R8000P and CM1150V cable modem.

After setup, WAN aggregation works great with speed up to 1.2Gbps (Comcast Gigabit plan). However, the speed will drop occasionally to 600Mbps after a couple of hours. Once power cycle, the speed issue will be resolved.

Every day or two, the R8000P will hang without any internet access, for both wired and WI-FI. Again, power cycle will resolve the problem.

My firmware version is V1.4.1.68_1.3.28 on the R8000P and V4.02.02 on the CM1150V.

Without WAN aggregation, I did not encounter any issue with my internet connection.
