R8000p Constantly needs to be rebooted, and password resets are the only way to get into the router

This router is turning out to be the worst purchase I ever made, the router regularly needs to be reset, the Android app is useless. I have had the incoming signal checked thinking that maybe the issue, but it has not dropped. When I try to log into the router I have to reset the password before I can log I I have a password keeper that remembers the password but for some reason the router will not let me log in and I have to reset the password. I am totally frustrated with this problem and it started after the 90 day support window. So there is nothing Ki can do, Updated the firmware and still the same problems. I will NEVER purchase another netgear product. I used nothing but netgear in the past.

Have you tried a full factory reset and then set the router up again?

Yes, did not fix this issue, it is now presenting this issue multiple times aday, ISP has installed monitoring on my connection, but does not show drops in service, nor is my phone service dropping. I had to stop recommendating this product to my familt and customers as every installation has experienced this issue.

I shouldhave mentioned, it drops all connections wired or wifi, will not let me log in after this happens to check the log files and need to reboot router to get it to work properly. Factory reset weekly and have latest FW. Manually reconfigure settings each factory reset

dropped again today, also the wireless app does nothing but craches, modile data is off on my android phone. log file did show internet disconnected and 6 minutes later reconneted so a called my isp and they said the tracking they has on my modem did not show an issue so i'm stuck with a frustrating issue. Since Netgear can't help, do I replace all my netgear equipment with a competitor, I have used nothing but netgear for 30 years. I can't believe with the amount of reports fro users with this router that Netgear fails to help I wonder how much bottom line has been effected by loosing customer base. I would appreciate some guidance at the very least.

Still dropping, the router looses internet both wired and wifi, but comes back up somestimes after about 5 minutes, ISP does not see any drops in service, my router logs has information on the drops see bottom of log file for Wednesday, Dec 31,1969 19:00:00. when router comes back up sometimes it does not get the external IP address from the modem, after 2 to 3 reboots it picks up. If I connect my laptop directly to the modem it shows ip address and connected since the last time I reset the modem.

Hi @JimC57, please try re-flashing the firmware by manually updating it with the latest available firmware then do a factory reset. Let us know how it goes.

I have flashed firmware several times and reset router to factory no change the router still intermittently drops about 4 to 6 times a day now. I did notice when it drops that the port lights on the top of the router go out and then come back on. This is causing major issues as I work from home and it is interfering with work.

Same here. Except it happens at random frequencies for me, not nearly as often as you're saying. Yours sounds faulty thats all.
Mine is still not 100% solid though.

A few months ago it randomly factory reset itself on me which was crazy. never figured out why that happened.

But since then, its been usually OK except once a week or once per month it depends, I have this same issue as you.

Did you ever resolve it or did you just get a different router? I dont have the password issue but Im wondering if you had the same issue as me (factory reset itself and lost all settings/SSIDs/passwords/rules etc)
