R8300 Reboot Loop
This is in regards to the R8300 AC 5000 X8 Nighthawk Smart Router:
Five months ago I purchased our R8300 Nighthawk Router new from our local Costco. We were dazzled and amazed at its functionality as we had just moved from a cheap single band router handling a two family home with multiple devices. About two months ago one of the 5 ghz bands decided to act up and not operate. I could go in through the mobile applicaiton and rename it, but then it would replace the other active 5 ghz band. I shrugged it off and figured little of it because most of our devices needed the 2.4 ghz anyway. Well, yesterday morning one of my family members was trying to print through Wi-Fi and while troubleshooting the printer I realized that my phone was off wi-fi as well.
When checking the router directly, I noticed that it just had an amber power light and watching it for a few minutes it would do the flash it did whenever it was powering up or rebooting. Afterwards, it would sit again on the amber power light and continued to do so for several more minutes. I tried what I knew for troubleshooting by turning the physical power off with the button on the back and performing a power cycle by pulling the plug and waiting thirty seconds. Neither of those provided a solution so I left it plugged in and running, hoping that it would resolve itself by the evening and went about my day. When I returned to the router it was still performing the same reboot loop issue. I took my troubleshooting a little further and unplugged it and left it unplugged for upwards of fifteen minutes before plugging it back in to find the reboot issue still persistent.
I left it this time overnight, plugged in, with a similar but less hope that the issue would resolve itself. This morning when I got up it was still rebooting so I tried the last step I knew with performing a factory reset by holding in the reset button. I held it in initially for about five seconds, then about a half hour later, and some research, held it in for thirty seconds. I still, to this point, have found no resolution for this issue but have found through other search topics that the R8500's had at least a batch of defective devices that were shipped out but have found very limited articles covering the R8300 I own.
Any advice, support, or tips are welcome. Thanks in advance.
