R8500 Enable LAN/WAN Packet Capture

Hi all.  I'm trying to educate myself about my netgear router, what would the option Enable LAN/WAN Packet Capture" on the 192.168.1.1/debug.htm page do for me?  Will it actually capture all packets to a text file, in more detail say than the router logs?

Yes, It gives you the detail Information of LAN/WAN packet Transfer and you can see the complete history more than router logs.

Re: R8500 Enable LAN/WAN Packet Capture

Thank you for your help.  Once I click 'start capture' let it run for a while, generate some data, then click 'save debug log' a file is downloaded containing a few text files like below

router_config

Console-log1.txt

udhcpd_log.txt

udhcpd.leases

do you know what each of the files shows?

Re: R8500 Enable LAN/WAN Packet Capture

The router_config, udhcpd.leases file format will be different.

Console-log1.txt - It contains detail Informations about the router real time activity, services, session connectivity, filesystem etc

udhcpd.leases - Udhcp is a small dhcp server on the router, the file contains the service status of (server & Client) and gives the lease time Information for the Ip obtained on the WAN port.
