R8500 Trouble getting connected thru C1100Z modem (centurylink)

I'm having difficulties keeping connection or at times even making connection thru my modem.(the modem) works on it's own but i bought this router on Ebay non-returnable . Any help appreciated.

Finally got around to trying this, I went all the way to clone the cpu mac address, and so far so good. Thanks

Reboot modem while router is connected. If that fails, then log into the router and clone your computer's MAC address in WAN Setup. This will fool your modem into thinking your router is your computer.
