R8500 - Turn off wireless signal by schedule does not work

Hi!
My "Turn off wireless signal by schedule" setting is not being saved.
I created a period, then checked the "Turn off wireless signal by schedule" setting, click saved. The router goes into "applying settings mode", I noticed the wireless signals goes off for some seconds, then signal comes back. I then go to check the Wiresless Settigns again and I keep noticing the "Turn off wireless signal by schedule" is kept unchecked.
Is someone else experiencing this issue?
I am running the latest firmware: V 1.0.2.26_1.0.41

Re: R8500 - Turn off wireless signal by schedule does not work
I'm thinking that could be the problem, because they work together and it's not smart enough to reassign attached clients to another band

Re: R8500 - Turn off wireless signal by schedule does not work
I think you are right. However, NetGear is advertising SmartConnect as a feature where the router will determine the best 5Ghz signal for each connected device. It should not really matter if the Signal is turned off as each device will be establishing a new connection therefore.
It would be the same as this scenario:
a) Enable SmartConnect
b) Connect your Wifi devices
c) Manually press the Wifi button on the R8500 to turn off all radio frequencies (2.4 and 5)
d) Press the Wifi Button again on the R8500 and the signals will turn on.
e) All devices are connected again.
I am hoping a NetGear staff can read my post and chime in their thoughts. Hopefully this will be something that could be solved via a firmware update.

Re: R8500 - Turn off wireless signal by schedule does not work
I only answered the question and don't have that router, I do have several others with smart connect and I don't care for it.
Smart connect requires the SSID's to be the same and same security so one could assume it also requires the radios to be On for it to work correctly.
Pressing the Wifi button is a mechanical action and turns all radios off while scheduling is software driven so it's not the same. Imagine if a user was using A VPN connecting to work from home. The timed event would break that connection while trying to re-establish another and drop the vpn connection.
Good Luck!

Re: R8500 - Turn off wireless signal by schedule does not work
this feature hasnt worked since the product shipped. $400 router with a problem like that? great engineering team, wouldnt ya say?
and while i am on this topic....
the implementation of this feature is all wrong. instead of shutting an entire radio down, you should be able to target individual clients to shut down on a schedule. this way i have finer control of the feature instead of an on / off switch

Re: R8500 - Turn off wireless signal by schedule does not work
Neatgear support sent me a newer firmware version which corrected the issue. I'm assuming they will make this firmware public in the near future.

Re: R8500 - Turn off wireless signal by schedule does not work
@Arepaking - did the fix make it so at the scheduled time the designated radio turns off, or do all radios recycle then the designated radio turns off? my r8000 would momentarily recycle all radios and when the cycle completed the designated radio turned off.
that to me is a poor implementation and should not be at the radio level, it should be at the client level so you arent interrupting all clients, just the ones you designate.
there shouldnt be that recycle of all radios either, other router brands have time scheduling that either affects a specific client or radio, but not all radios
