Hello,
I hope someone has a solution for my routher. I have a R8500 Nighthawk and everytime there is power outage I have to power cycle the router so it can connect to modem to gain access to the Internet.
I do have a Smart Home System.. and everything is connected beautifully except my Router is not so smart.. so when I am away if there is an outage.. my home can't connect to internet cause routher doesn't know how to reset itself. So when im away or vacation.. I can't even monitor my home.
Please help.

1. Reset plug - plug your router to it . it checks WiFi and see if it is connected to internet.
2. Run a script that resets on a timer from your computer.
3. Get ddwrt
4. And the ups solution..

Re: R8500 nighthawk not connected to internet after power outage
This a guess. Normally you want the modem to come up and stablize before starting the router. Suspect that when you have a power outage the router is coming up before the modem. Best way around this maybe to get a UPS and connect the modem and router to it. Depending on length of outage you would need to size UPS accordingly.
