With Nighthawk Routers they have Parental Controls which tie into OpenDNS.
How is this different from setting the WAN IP on my router to OpenDNS and configuring the same settings through the full opendns console?
Is it recommended to leave the WAN DNS to set to automatically grab from ISP and then just set Privacy Controls and then configure in OpenDNS?

If you have enabled NETGEAR Live Parental Control, the router will automatically get the DNS addresses from OpenDNS.
The privacy settings configured under Live Parental Control should take effect.

Re: R9000 Parental Controls vs Setting OpenDNS in WAN
Ok perfect, tested and this does indeed work as expected
One item to note -> if you turn on parental controls while you set WAN DNS to OpenDNS, then if you set WAN DNS to Automatic from ISP -> Parental Controls turns itself off and you have to turn it back on manually
