I updated my router to the latest firmware 1.0.5.2. Soon my Synology NAS (214+) sent me an email stating, there is a problem configuring ports and UPnp. I tried to manually configure the NAS but it still failed. I restarted everything...still no Synology ports. I reinstalled the old version of the firmware 1.0.4.34 and all returned to normal. Just to be sure I tried loading the new firmware 1.0.5.2 again. This again breaks the Synology NAS as it refuses to update its fowarded ports to the R9000. Then I reloaded the older firmware and all returted to normal. The Synology NAS was happy again. Previous firmware updates have worked flawlessly. For now I will stay with the old firmware until Netgear addresses this very nasty problem.

Re: R9000 firmware 1.0.5.2
Welcome to the wonderful world of crap firmware from Netgear. IMHO they have been turning out worse and worse firmware for the last year. Got rid of my NG routers and went else where. Interesting that that NG=No Good. 😉 Hopefully someday they will get their act together and again produce firmware that has been through the proper tests of bug fixes and QA before release. They seem to not care anymore about the end user.

Re: R9000 firmware 1.0.5.2
Thanks for the info.
Can you clarify......is it just the UPnP port forwarding that is failing? Can you still access the NAS internall from a client internal to your LAN?
Was that the only issue? Based on the track record with Netgear's firmware and lack of QA / regression testing, I am always hesitant to upgrade. But my security hat tells me to stay current to remediate vulns that exist. So, Im torn at the moment.

Re: R9000 firmware 1.0.5.2
Does your wired client can access R9000 or not? how about reboot?wired device become offline is strange, maybe you need to check your ip address and use a static ip to check

Re: R9000 firmware 1.0.5.2
Reboots do not work Only previous firmware works. The new firmware only breaks the Synology Nas port forwarding rules. Everything else works. So, no media streaming, local or remote.

Re: R9000 firmware 1.0.5.2
After updating to firmware version 1.0.5.2 thinnet client could no longer get address from DHCP. Shows up on device list with address 0.0.0.0. Other connections worked fine. Went back to previous version and Wyse 3040 thinnet client works fine.

Re: R9000 firmware 1.0.5.2
Otherwise known as a "thin client. Virtual computer, no local hard drive, always wired, always connected secure home computer connection for work. Must obtain address from DHCP.
