Re: R9000 new firmware V1.0.2.30

New Features and Enhancements:

  • Supports JP SKU.
  • Supports NAS devices for plex media server application.
  • Supports whole drive backup for Amazon cloud backup.
  • Supports link aggregation static LAG mode

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixes security vulnerability issues.
  • Fixes iOS captive portal issue.

To Install

Note: To avoid wireless disconnect issue during the firmware download process, NETGEAR recommends that firmware upgrade be performed on a computer with wired connection.

  1. Write down all the settings which you changed from the default values, since you may need to re-enter them manually.
  2. Using the Download Link below, download and extract the new firmware to a convenient place such as your desktop. The filename after extracting is R9000-V1.0.2.30.img

    Download Link: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/R9000/R9000-V1.0.2.30.zip
  3. Log in to the router using a Web browser. The URL is http://www.routerlogin.net.
  4. Click ADVANCED tab > Administration > Firmware Upgrade.
  5. Click Browse and find the file you just downloaded.
  6. Click Upload. Do not interrupt the upgrade while the router does this step.

Important Note:

  1. The upgrade process is completed when the on screen progress bar completes.
  2. If the upgrade progress bar on web GUI doesn’t display correctly during firmware upgrade, you can still check the status using Power LED. After firmware upgrade is done and boots up the system, it changes to steady amber color.
Please DO NOT power off or reboot the device during firmware upgrade, otherwise, it  may result to a corrupt firmware and cause the device not to work.
  3. Please do "reset-to-factory default" after the firmware upgrade.

Re: R9000 new firmware V1.0.2.30

The QoS does not work, I set my PC to The highest value, apply, and it goes back to low, worked OK with the last Beta.

Re: R9000 new firmware V1.0.2.30

I would do a complete factory reset on the router and then set up from scratch and see if the QOS settings work. Be sure to clear out all browser caches after doing the factory reset and close then re-open the browser.

Re: R9000 new firmware V1.0.2.30

A complete reset has removed the options on setting QoS on individual devices. So there are no options to set QoS apart from the WMM on the 2.4 and 5ghz wifi.

Something you should PM Elaine about and let them know. I guess go back and use the beta in mean time.

Re : R9000 new firmware V1.0.2.30

Yes, this 1.0.2.30 has no QOS options that were "revealed" to us in the beta firmware.  In some ways, this is a "rollback" from the beta.  Clearly, QOS not ready for primetime on the R9000 if Netgear did not put it in the finished firmware product.

I am now wondering when (if ever) we will see QOS options in the R9000 feature set.

How is the QOS feature not enabled on a $500 router?

Re: R9000 new firmware V1.0.2.30

I went back to the beta V1.0.2.18 performance is better now for ethernet connections, hopefully some one at Netgear will release a better version, I havent had this that long so it could be sent back. Was expecting a lot more for having the so called flagship off Netgear, the fastest router ever released, all smoke and mirrors so far.

Re: R9000 new firmware V1.0.2.30

Well, I am hoping that it will get better with some attention to the firmware.  Elaine has been active in the forums, and I would hope that Netgear takes pride in their premium products for consumers.  I am sure they understand the sales challenges they would face if they do not.

Re: R9000 new firmware V1.0.2.30

Another problem , which is a feature now removed, but it is advertised:

"MU-MIMO supports simultaneous streaming, while 160 MHz doubles WiFi speeds to mobile devices."

But "Enable HT160"  cannot be enabled under "wifi settings" in "advanced setings"

Anyone else??

Re: R9000 new firmware V1.0.2.30

Updated to this latest FW 1.0.2.30. Knowing well, that QoS was not working. As other have mentioned Basic>Home>Attatched Devices box, says 19 Devices, however when you click on the box, it only shows 3devices connected, 2 wireless and 1 wired.

Netgear you need to fix:

1) QoS

2) Attached devices

Re: R9000 new firmware V1.0.2.30

Has anyone tried Merlins 3rd party FW or OpenRouters FW? Just something to suggest trying while everyone is waiting on NG to implement QoS. Smiley Frustrated

Re: R9000 new firmware V1.0.2.30

Couple of issues using 3rd party FW:

Currently known issue:

-2G and 5G leds are not operational since they cannot be controlled through gpio. Current opensource wireless driver has no support to control these leds.

-60G interface info is currently not correctly display in status pages and due to missing 60G client, 60G operation is untested

Re: R9000 new firmware V1.0.2.30

Incidentally,

Some really new odd behavior with this router after the 1.0.2.30 update.  After the update, try using the VPN and then getting to any internal web server on your network.

Re: R9000 new firmware V1.0.2.30

What did everyone expect?? The r8500 was the so called flagship too and it still doesn't work. My first one I bought is over in a drawer bit the bullet after 4 months but missed the warranty from my job being away. I'm hard headed so what do I do yep go buy another & after a whole whopping week of hell its now stuck in the boot loop. Shame on me me once....Shame on me twice....Netgear please fix what you have out instead of paying hired hands to work on something new.
