Re: R9000: no Internet with VLAN enabled

Welcome to the community, @PauLita

Kindly upgrade the firmware of your router and factory reset it afterwards.

Once done, reconfigure the router to get back the connection and configure your VLAN settings.

Re: R9000: no Internet with VLAN enabled

I do repeat:

1. VLAN disabled - no problems with internet.

2. VLAN enabled - no internet.

3. VLAN disabled - no problems with internet.

4. VLAN enabled - no internet.

5. VLAN disabled - no problems with internet.

6. VLAN enabled - no internet.

Shall I repeat some more times?

Re: R9000: no Internet with VLAN enabled

Let us do more experiments:

1.	Factory reset
a)	No problems with Internet (port1)
b)	Router (192.168.1.1) accessible via port 1
2.	Enable VLAN “By VLAN tag group”
Name=Internet, VLAN ID=10, priority=0, Wired ports=all
a)	No Internet (port 1)
b)	Router (192.168.1.1) accessible via port 1
3.	Disable VLAN
a)	Internet returns (port1)
a)	Router (192.168.1.1) accessible via port 1
4.	Enable VLAN “By VLAN tag group” and change ID from 10 to 1:
Name=Internet, VLAN ID=1, priority=0, Wired ports=all
a)	Internet disappears (port 1)
b)	No way anymore to connect to Router (192.168.1.1 or www.routerlogin.net) via port 1
5.	Factory reset
a)	No problems with Internet (port1)
b)	Router (192.168.1.1) accessible via port 1
6.	Enable VLAN “By VLAN tag group”, add VLAN ID=1 on port=5:
Name=Internet, VLAN ID=10, priority=0, Wired ports=1,2,3,4,6
Name=1,VLAN ID=1,priority=1,Wired port=5
a)	No Internet (port 1), no Internet (pot 5)
b)	Router (192.168.1.1) accessible via port 1, not accessible via port 5
7.	Enable VLAN “By VLAN tag group”, add VLAN ID=6 on port=6:
Name=Internet, VLAN ID=10, priority=0, Wired ports=1,2,3,4
Name=1,VLAN ID=1,priority=1,Wired port=5
Name=iptv,VLAN ID=6,priority=6,Wired port=6
a)	No Internet (ports 1,5,6)
b)	Router (192.168.1.1) accessible via port 1, Router NOT acessible via ports 5,6
c)	iptv of Telia is on port 6!!!
8.	Disable VLAN
a)	Internet returns (ports 1,2,3,4,5,6)
b)	Router (192.168.1.1) accsessible via ports 1,2,3,4,5,6

Re: R9000: no Internet with VLAN enabled

Do you have a proof of purchase?

Can you try to hard reset the unit once more?

1. With the unit powered on, press and hold the reset button on the back of unit for 30seconds.
2. Without releasing the reset button, unplug the unit and hold reset for another 30 seconds.
3. Power on the unit while STILL pushing the reset button and count for another 30 seconds before letting it go.

Kindly provide feedback once you have tried the reset.

By the way, the imaged you have attached is disapproved for your security.

Re: R9000: no Internet with VLAN enabled

Tried 30+30+30 Hard Reset for several times. I DOES NOT work as expected:

1. 30+30+30

a) Router's power LED blinks repeatedly

b) ping 192.168.1.1 OK

c) www.routerlogin.net -> "Server not found"

d) 192.168.1.1 in browser -> "LuCI - Lua Configuration Interface" on black screen for few seconds -> "can't reach this page"

e) wait for 15..30 min. No changes.

d) repower router

e) router returns to work WITHOUT erasing previous saved configuration!

P.S. was the image of an invoice a proof of purchase or shall I send You a copy via PM?

Re: R9000: no Internet with VLAN enabled

Shall I remind, that my problem with R9000 is exactly as this (unsolved) problem: Nighthawk-X6-R8000-and-VLAN-IPTV

Yes, the problem is not resolved! Almost two weeks had passed from the last Netgear attempt, and no news from then...

Re: R9000: no Internet with VLAN enabled

That is too bad, I have the newest R7000P which has been great in all other respects.  From the other sources i've been able to read is seems that turning on any VLAN tagging essentially disconnects the Internet Port.  I don't believe it is a hardware issue as alternative firmware such as Open-WRT or Tomato supposedly will do it with Netgear hardware.

The "solution" of purchasing a cheap switch just to do tagging on the WAN side is ridiculous.

Re: R9000: no Internet with VLAN enabled

As I mentioned already in other thread, I was given a debug version of FW witch allowed to specify main (internet) VLAN number equal to 0, and additional VLAN #6 for my iptv. This HAD solved the problem - internet AND iptv has neen working together! Sorry, but this ability (VLAN #0) is missing in the main FW.

Re: R9000: no Internet with VLAN enabled

OK, I returned to FW version V1.0.2.40, and set Internet VLAN ID to 0. Internet AND iptv are working.

One bug left: there is no way to assign 10Gb SFP port to any VLAN (though it duplicates port #1).

Indeed, I badly need additional feature: it is necessary to be able to assign different VLANs to the same LAN port – for example my iptv provider translates also additional information about current channel viewed – show name, next show info, duration etc. Also current provider’s router  is able to translate to the same LAN port iptv+info, AND internet, AND NAS.
