I recently added another computer to my home and am thinking of moving a USB hard drive to one of the USB ports on this router. Since Comcast manages this router (or at least the interface facing them) I am concerned that they will be able to see everything on the drive that I connect to the router's USB port. Is this the case?

No. It takes something like ReadyCLOUD to get remote access.
Look at the ReadySHARE settings and tweak them to allow access to what you want.
