Remote Connection

I have a nighthawlk ad.7200 X10 router.

I have a Host Computer with my main program installed on it.

I have 3 other computers with the same program installed on it (with separate licence) that stream to/from the main PC to share the information beetween all of it.

I have a 1TB hard drive connected to my router.

If I leave my business with my (client) computer the connection is lost and I have no data because it is saved on the host.

Is there a way I can set up a configuration with the software/ equipment I currently have to where i can have everything operate remotely the same way it does as if i am there?

I also have a block of static ip addresses.

Are you offering any clues as to what this "my main program" might
be, or how two computers which run it communicate with each other?
(Some kind of file sharing, or some application-specific client-server
message exchange, or what?)

Does a remote client computer need to access this storage, or does it
need to talk to the "my main program" on the "Host Computer", or what?

It might make some sense if you didn't try to run the "my main
program" on your remote client computer, but instead used something like
Microsoft Remote Desktop to talk to a computer back on your LAN, and run
the "my main program" on that LAN-connected computer.

Interesting, but I'd expect that it's not required.

Re: Remote Connection

The Main Computer is running Mitchell 1 Prodemand Shop Management and Frazer Auto dealer software. I believe there is some type of client server add ons to the program that I noticed when it was installed g that were added.

Yes, my remote computer needs to talk with the main computer. Not necessarily the external. I got a block of static ip's because that's what I was told what was needed in order to connect remotely .

I'm very new at all this. However, you might be right in saying that mabee I should just run the program remotely instead possibly on it's own deticated computer/server so that at the businesses the main computer wouldn't be tied up when in use

I don't know enough about that.  A quick look did find this:
      https://mitchell1.com/support/system-requirements/
but it seems to talk about LAN access only.

If you could point to some documentation, then more progress in that
direction might be possible.

Perhaps, perhaps not.  A NAT router like the R8500 can provide access
from the outside world to devices on the LAN, even with a single
external/public IP address.  (Having more doesn't hurt, but might be
unnecessary.)

It's worth considering, in any case.  Configuring port forwarding on
the router to deal with incoming Microsoft Remote Desktop connections to
one or more Windows systems on the LAN is pretty easy.  Something
similar might be possible for Mitchell 1 ProDemand (or any other
client-server program), but, with no documentation, it's tough to say
much with any confidence.
