Replace NETGEAR 10 by NETGEAR28

Although I have the proper DSL user name and password, NETGEAR28 does not work

What actual router do you have? 

netgear10/netgear 28 tend to be your ssid name and not your model.

Is it connected to a dsl gateway or whats your whole setup?

I am replacing 

NETGEAR N150 WiFi DSL Modem Router - Essential Edition  Model D500

or

NETGEAR 300 WiFi DSL Modem Router - Essential Edition  Model D1500 (both names on the Installation leaflet)

did you run the setup wizard? 

Or even just copy over the dsl settings from the old router to the new one?
