Router Won't Change Device Priority and No Bandwidth #s

Router Won't Change Device Priority and No Bandwidth #s

I have been having issues with the R7500 and trying to get device priorities changed from what their default values are. I tried contacting support but they were complete ----- to me and told me that my 90 days of support were up and that I should contact the forums or pay for support (WTF?).

Getting beyond the ridiculousness of 90 days of product support for a 1 year warrantied product, I am already running the latest firmware and have tried multiple browsers.

Hi,

I already said it in the title. I cannot change any device's priority on the network and none of the bandwidth numbers are showing.

Thanks,

Re: Router Won't Change Device Priority and No Bandwidth #s

I assume you have Dynamic QOS enabled ? because you won't see the option to Change Device Priority unless Dynamic QOS enabled. Have you tried a hard reset on the router ? What other things have you tried to diagnose the issue ?

Yes, I have Dynamic QoS enabled, that's how I know that I can change device priority and it isn't changing.

I have hard reset my router, it was among the first things I tried.

Re: Router Won't Change Device Priority and No Bandwidth #s

Are you even seeing the Device Priority Dropdown ?

You could update your Java and see if that helps.

Re: Router Won't Change Device Priority and No Bandwidth #s

Have you tried doing this on another system that is wired ? and or disabling any firewall/malware software that might just be doing something funny with your browser ? It sounds like a software issue but you'll have to try it on several systems/devices and if your still getting the same result I can only assume your router is faulty.

Note:
I have had no issues with my wired Desktop systems running Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 ( browser IE ) and also a wireless Samsung Tablet using ( browser Firefox ). I even setup Access control and restricting the MAC Address and have had no issues with that.

Re: Router Won't Change Device Priority and No Bandwidth #s

The system I am using is directly wired to the router, no switches, nothing. I don't have anything special outside of Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Firewall, both of which are known to be good Microsoft software. It honestly sounds like a Router software issue more than anything and restarting it doesn't do anything to solve either problem. I've tried multiple browsers in different modes without any success.

Reset the router and reconfigure.

I know this isn't the best option but you can try to downgrade the firmware to .76? Anyway, the only update for the firmware .82 is about "Fixes the Japanese wireless DFS channel display issue for the weather channel on the web management page."

Re: Router Won't Change Device Priority and No Bandwidth #s

I am having the same issue, also when I try to watch any video, the sound will stutter and also the video, but if i let the video load for a few seconds it will be ok and this is on the "wired" desktop computer. I thought this router was supposed to be fast, I never had this problem with my old Linksys WRT54G. I hope a solution can be found.

Re: Router Won't Change Device Priority and No Bandwidth #s

Roll the firmware back to 1.0.0.76 and the stuttering will stop.

Re: Router Won't Change Device Priority and No Bandwidth #s

Go to the router page at netgear and get the 1.0.0.76 bios. Then enter the router under administration and go to the firmware update page and tell it to load the 1.0.0.76 bios and flash to it.

well it seemed worked for awhile, it is doing the video stuttering again, I rebooted the router from the routerlogin. page and still stuttering. Any other things to try?

Did you downgrade the firmware? Also try disabling qos and see if it improves.

Re: Router Won't Change Device Priority and No Bandwidth #s

yes, twice, video will be pretty good for a few hours then go back to stuttering, sometimes a lot of stutter, sometimes not so much. also I noticed that video will stutter even when the progress bar is fully loaded. This has all started after I installed this router. weird. QOS is turned off and Traffic meter is also off.

How old is it? You might consider returning it and getting another router.
