SOLID AMBER LIGHT ON DSL/INTERNET

We have an amber light  appearring on the DSL/Internet on our D8500 Router. The internet is working fine. All other lights are solid white or pulsating.

not sure why it is showing a steady amber when it should show a solid white.

I have set up a no limit on our traffic meter.

Re: SOLID AMBER LIGHT ON DSL/INTERNET

You have posted your message in the section of this community given over to Nighthawk WiFi Routers. (This is easily done, given Netgear's complicated community structure.)

Many questions apply to different types of device – maybe not about DSL though – so you might get responses here, but you might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your hardware, in the appropriate section for your device. That's probably here:

DSL Modems & Routers

I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message. What firmware version do you have on the device?

A number is more useful than "the latest". (It may not be by the time people read this.) There can also be newer versions, or "hot fixes", that do not show up if you check for new firmware in the browser interface.

Is the Model: R7450|Nighthawk AC2600 Smart WiFi Router listed in your footer involved in this in anyway? Or did you just click the first thing that popped up when you wrote your message?

The latest. Did you install it yourself?

Never seen a report like that before.

Did you reset the router to factory settings after the firmware flash?

New firmware sometimes introduces changes that are not compatible with the old configuration.

So while it isn't guaranteed to fix problems a factory reset is the first thing to try if you have issues with new firmware.

You can reduce the hassle of reconfiguring all those settings by creating a backup of your settings before you reset. Then if something is still broken after the reset, and the new firmware has not fixed it, you can restore the device to its pre-reset state.

You could even try restoring the settings even if the new firmware has fixed the problems, but be prepared for the restore to also bring back your problems.
