Scared to update firmware R7000

Netgear,

I was one of the many who tried recent previous firmware updates and had my router go into a permanently broken state of continual drops. I see now after a couple of months that there have been additional firmware updates and there is now a .28 version. Is this version stable? If I upgrade, will I get the drops? My router is the center of my digital home. I can not afford to throw the dice. Thanks

Seems maybe people have moved on from the R7000... no replies in three days is telling.

As far the firmware update goes I feel that's a choice you have to make if there are any issues time will tell, As far the amount of users that may have moved on from the R7000 is hard to know unless they post about it, may users have stopped posting about the issues they are having as time goes on and just live with them.

Few people here are willing (or able) to guarantee your success.
What did you expect?

What could go wrong?  If the newer firmware works badly, then you
should be able to revert to your older firmware.  If the firmware load
fails, then the TFTP recovery scheme could/should restore normal
operation:

Could you wreck everything permanently?  Perhaps.

   I'm with him.
