Setting either 5 or 2.4 mghz for devices

just wondering if there is a way to tell the router which band (2.4 or 5) to use on selected devices.  My tv loads on the 2.4 .   My microwave is close to tv and stops streaming when it is in use so i need tv to be on 5 mghz band

Just name the two bands differently? (different SSIDs)

what actual router do you have? Some can't seperate out the ssids. 

Some do have smart connect and it can be disabled. 

So knowing what actual device you have is key.
