Setting up new network, leaving old network in place using AP Mode
I have an older Nighthawk AC 1900 R7000 which is meeting my needs in a small apartement with the exception of VPN as SHA 256 is no longer supported for encryption - and for good reason. So - I've just bought a Nighthawk AX5 5-Stream AX4200 WiFi Router / RAX43 which should let me establiish a VPN and access home based resources while I travel our planet.
I would like to leave the existing network in place and reading suggests I might be able to do this via AP Mode. In the simplest terms - I would establish a new network and use ethernet out from AX4200 to the internet port on the AC1900 in AP Mode.
I have never done this and have limited network experience. Could anyone please verify that my approach seems feasible? Would also happy for tips and tricks while getting this done if I am on a good path.
Many thanks......Beau
