Solution for R7000 disconnects
My router is only about 8 months old, and we usually have to reboot it 3 times a week as it disconnetcs. I've even replaced the modem thinking that was the issue, however it still continues and I strongly feel its the router. Is this something I need to reset or update? and if so how do I go about doing that? Any help would be appreciated.

What actual version of the firmware are you on with the r7000?
If its not 1.0.11.116, try installing that over a hardwired connection, then do a factory reset and freshing install. Don't use a backup configuration.
or you can try the agreed upon stable firmware 1.0.9.42

There have been several since that one.
What happens when it "disconnects"? The wifi goes off? The Internet LED changes colour?
What modem, if there is one, sits in front of the router?
The internet just cuts off, most of the time the lights on router are lit white.
The modem is brand new cause we kept thinking it was the modem, thats a Netgear CM700.
I'm assuming the best way to get most recent firmware version is to go to their website?

yes you can download it from the website and install it manually.

I attempted to get the new firmware, and when I logged in, there were no updates and the they are saying the current firmware is V1.0.9.88_10.2.88. Thanks for all of your advice, but it's not allowing me to update any further.
