I have a Synology NAS hooked up t my Netgear router.
It has worked flawlessly up to now.
I can access the nas via http://192.168.1.8:5000/index.cgi
I can access any of the shares. The IP adress for NAS is reserved.
I cant ping it, i cant even ping any machines on my network,
I have 7-8 devices, most with windows 10.
The other day the firewall on main computer started to act. I constant have to approve apps or services.
Cant access the NAS from any computer, wired or wif, only via browser and port 5000.
Has to be a setting on router that prevents me from accessing the NAS. But what setting?

Turns out it was the NAS was the source of error. Did a fabric reset that solved everything

Can you still see the NAS on "Attached device" on your router UI?

No, i dont`t now. Only access it via browser, not from any client, regardless of OS

Did you reboot the router? Can you ping the router? If a device try to see NAS is there any error message?

Windows 10 $uck$ I went round and round with same B$ almost 2 years ago as a beta tester for Win 10. It's a security setting in WIN 10. I dumped it and went back to Win 7.

Re: Sudden network issues with a NASNetwork, Troubleshooting
Thats really not an answer. As said in initial post it has worked flawless up until a point.
I have several W7 clients aswell, same problem there, so no, its not a W10 problem.

Re: Sudden network issues with a NASNetwork, Troubleshooting
Can't ping... ping times out? Do you use Synology NAS assistant? Does it do the same thing? Run ip scan and double confirm the NAS
ip address is still 192.168.1.8,,,,,, no chance of ip address conflict here?

Re: Sudden network issues with a NASNetwork, Troubleshooting
Correct, ping times out.
NAS assistant cant find the NAS.
Adress confirmed the same.
I look in netgear geenie in network hood.
Only NAS has that IP.
Think i have to do a complete reset of the router, and not use the saved settings.

Re: Sudden network issues with a NASNetwork, Troubleshooting
I have a Synology NAS and have no problems accessing it from Windows and Mac.
It's strange that you can log into the Synology's web portal but yet you can't ping it. Have you checked that the firewall on the Synology isn't blocking anything?
Do you have jumbo frames enabled on the Synology? If so, turn it off. Netgear routers do not support jumbo frames.
